"It doesn't matter how slowly you go, as long as you don't stop." - Confucius
 Dear Justice Families,
Spring has sprung (although the temperatures wouldn't agree) and we are two weeks away from the end of the third quarter. Please be sure to monitor your student's grade progress and feel free to contact the teacher, counselor or administrator with any questions or concerns regarding your student's academic performance.
Our Standards of Learning testing schedule is now available for your information. Please click here to take a look. If you have a date conflict, please contact your student's counselor to make alternate testing arrangements.
This Saturday, Bill and I attended the IB art show. We had a great time. The art displayed was an exhibition of the culmination of our students’ IB Art experience. Students presented a selection of their best work in the form of a curated final show and articulated their purpose and intention in a written rationale.
In addition, our spring sports teams continue to make us Justice proud. Our boys and girls lacrosse, baseball, softball, soccer and tennis teams are having a great season. Justice has a tremendous amount of talented students.
Have a happy Sunday!
The following students participated in the Regional Science Fair last weekend at Robinson Secondary School. The students worked extremely hard and put in a lot of effort throughout this school year. Congratulations to all of them for their hard work and enthusiasm.

Members of GirlUp club have been invited to speak on the steps of the Capitol on Tuesday, March 26th on The Menstrual Equity for All Act of 2019 legislation. GirlUp members have worked hard this year to bring awareness to this issue.
The PTSA is looking for one or two current juniors with strong knowledge of the school to act as a liaison between PTSA Board members and the school community. The student VP connects the PTSA Board with individuals within the school to further the PTSA mission and provides input to PTSA Board decisions, and assist in board activities, on behalf of Justice HS students. Interested students may contact Ms. Spaulding in Student Services (caspaulding@fcps.edu) or complete the interest form found on the Justice HS Announcements Google site (students must be logged into their fcpsschools.net account to access the site) by no later than April 5th.
Monday's Wolf Time lesson students will revisit the importance of school attendance. During this lesson, students will identify reasons why students may miss school and brainstorm solutions to improve attendance. Classes will also create a poster with an attendance slogan to share positive messaging about attendance with their peers. Students will vote on the posters next week and the three classes with the most votes will celebrate with a pizza party!
On Tuesday, during Positivity Project time, we will work with our students and staff to define and explore the idea of fairness. Students will put their thoughts and actions to the test to see how fair they really are. With March Madness in full swing, our students will also participate in a friendly classroom paper basketball competition where some students will be put at a disadvantage so that we can analyze and discuss the importance of fairness in our lives.
Do you know a Justice High School or FCPS employee who does ordinary things in an extraordinary way or goes beyond what is expected? If so, then click here to share with everyone.
It’s open March 24 - April 12.
Share your thoughts on your school’s communications, opportunities to participate, relationships, student success, and more. Your input will be used to strengthen family engagement and foster a Caring Culture as outlined in the Fairfax County Public Schools Strategic Plan.
There are three ways to participate:
-
Check your email for an invitation with survey link from FCPS on March 24
-
Request a paper survey at your local school after March 24
-
Request to complete the online survey at your child’s school or at a school event.
All responses are confidential!
April 10, 2019 is Purple UP Day! This is a national day of recognition to show support for military youth and families by wearing purple. Why purple? Purple is the color of all the service colors blended together.
We are putting the finishing touches on our planning for Junior Focus Day which will take place on Thursday, April 11th. During the first blocks on this day (8:10 am -11:12 am), juniors will attend four sessions that match their post-high school plans. All Juniors will report to their 1st period class for attendance and once an announcement is made over the PA, they will attend a general overview in the auditorium and from there will be released to attend the sessions. We are bringing in a variety of presenters to lead sessions focused on the two and four-year college process as well as military and career options. This is a huge undertaking and we are excited to offer such an informative and individualized opportunity for our students.
Parents are invited to hear about key timelines, procedures, and resources to help support their students in the college process. A panel of college representatives will share their insights on managing the college search process, how colleges make decisions, and paying for college. For more information, contact your child’s counselor or Alicia Grande, Career Center Specialist, at agrande@fcps.edu.The resource fair begins as 6:00 PM with the program following from 6:30pm-8:00pm in the Little Theatre.
