Embracing Our Culture

For the past two years, Hayfield Secondary School Parent, Teacher, Student Association (PTSA) has partnered with the local Ethiopian-Eritrean Community to host a cultural performance by Ethiopian-Eritrean High School students from our area. The event was created to provide a meaningful program that supports diversity and inclusion while sharing the mission of the PTA to support student success by engaging and empowering families and communities.

Your school community is cordially invited to Embracing Our Culture on Saturday, April 6, 2019 from 6-9pm at Hayfield Secondary School – 7630 Telegraph Rd. Alexandria, VA 22315.

The show will feature cultural dance, fashion show and mini-dramas performed by students from your school community. This event is an opportunity for the community to come together to support the PTSA as well as increase awareness about its mission.

West Point Leadership

West Point Leadership and Ethics Conference

Congratulations to the six Hayfield Students who participated in the twelfth annual West Point Leadership and Ethics Conference on 14 March.  Hayfield student participants included: Javier Hurtado, Ame’lie Murphy, Annie Latrash, and Ethan Herlica.  Hayfield students returning as mentors include: Grace DiNicolantonio and Sydney Pinkston.

These individuals are dedicated to promoting and maintaining foundational principles and values that govern our day to day societal interactions to include: Loyalty, Duty, Respect, Selfless Service, Honor, Integrity, and Personal Courage.  Many people know the definitions of these words, but how often to you see someone actually live up to them?  Combine these values with the key principles of leadership to provide direction, purpose and motivation; and you can lead others to accomplish most anything.

Special congratulations go to Ame’lie and Annie for being selected to compete for over three thousand dollars in scholarships.
