A note from Dr. Goodloe:

Dear Rocky Run Families,

We have had a week full of good things here at Rocky Run MS:

  • Science Day was a huge success!  We are grateful to the many volunteers from our community who shared their careers in science with our students.
  • Our choral groups will perform at Chantilly HS today for their assessments.  We wish them good luck!
  • We celebrated student successes including a recent chess championship by several of our talented students (see below).
  • Thank you to our PTA for their support of teacher grants for ongoing professional learning and for sponsoring community education programs like the College Funding Coach.

Spotlight On Learning:  I hope you will join me at Franklin MS on Thursday, March 28 from 6-7:30 for an open house highlighting the many engaging learning activities happening in the Chantilly Pyramid schools grades K-12.    Students and staff will be presenting. We hope to see you there!  You can find additional information below.

March Madness comes to CHS!  RRMS v. Franklin Basketball Game:  Join us for this exciting community event at Chantilly HS from 6-9 PM on Friday, March 29.  Staff and student teams will play each other.   We will prepare for the big games with a spirit week and pep-rally at RRMS next week.  Students will be reminded that SR&R is in effect when participating in and attending this event.  No re-entry will be allowed if students leave the event at any time.

I welcome your feedback, questions and suggestions. Please feel free to reach out to me at any time.  I hope to see you at Rocky Run very soon

Food Sharing and Food Drive at RRMS

Rocky Run Middle School is pleased to announce our recent relaunch of the Food Sharing program. Students now have the option to donate any unwanted, unopened food items to a local food bank. At the end of each lunch period, SCA members and Peer Helping students will be going around with bins to collect food donations for delivery to the Western Fairfax Christian Ministries (WFCM). Acceptable food items include, but are not limited to, milk, juice boxes, bottled water, fruits, yogurt, or dry, packaged snacks like crackers and cookies. That said, we encourage our students to eat their lunch and donate only the foods they don’t want.

We also welcome any non perishable foods or toiletry items you wish to contribute. If you see anything around your house that you’d like to get rid of that has not expired, please send them to school with your child and ask him/her to place them in the boxes in the cafeteria. A PTA parent volunteer will take your donations and anything from Food Sharing to WFCM. Thank you for your support

  • New lockers have been installed.   Some students' lockers will be changed prior to spring vacation.  Students impacted will be notified.

Air Quality:  During construction, questions about indoor air quality arise. The most recent air quality tests met all standards.  Regular spot checks around the building have also been taking place and are all within expected limits.  The air quality inside the building is monitored at least once per month.  Please visit the Rocky Run website to review FAQs related to indoor air quality.

If you have specific questions about the renovation, please email them to Administrative Assistant, AJ Ries, ajries@fcps.edu or call the Rocky Run MS main office at 703-802-7700.
