Join us Tonight for Pastries with our Principals
Did you hear the great news? Principal Taylor, and our NEW assistant principal, Ms. Hassen have graciously agreed to spend an hour of their time before our March PTA meeting answering questions and eating a cookie or two with parents. Please join us on Wednesday, March 20th, in the school library for "Pastries with the Principals." There will be sweet treats to enjoy while you get to know Mr. Taylor and Ms. Hassen. The social will take place from 6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. and will be followed by our March PTA meeting at 7:00 p.m. We will be discussing our funding to date, future fundraising initiatives, as well as our upcoming calendar of events. WSES Fun Run
Leprechaun Chase

Spirit Night
Are you going to be cheering for Team Foxes or Team Willows? Blue or Green? On Thursday, April 4th, we will be hosting our annual Spirit Night at Centreville High School where Team Foxes, coached by Mr. Campen, will take on Team Willow, coached by Mr. Taylor. In addition to a great game of basketball, spectators will enjoy our very own Fox Ensemble kicking off the festivities by performing our National Anthem followed by halftime entertainment from our Jump Rope Team and Zumba Club. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. and the tip-off is at 6:30 p.m. Admission is $3.00; Spirit wear, food, and drinks will be available for purchase. We have limited square readers available for credit card transactions so in order to ensure the lines move quickly, cash transactions are preferred.
Zumba! Zumba! Zumba!
Does your student love to dance? If so, we have a wonderful opportunity for them to dance out their energy and get them ready for the weekend. Our Spring session of Zumba begins on Friday, April 12th and will conclude with a performance for families on Friday, June 7th. Registration is currently open at www.novakidsinmotion.com and click on the top left “Online Registration”.
Spring Garden Green Club
Registration is now open for our new and improved Spring Garden Green Club. Beginning Tuesday, April 9th and going until June 4th, our students now can learn how to plan, plant, and harvest a garden of native flowers and vegetables. They will also learn about the importance of eating healthy, staying physically active, and exploring nature. The club will meet from 4:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. in Pod A and will work their way outside as weather permits. The club is limited to the first 20 students, so don’t waste time, register today!
Silent Auction Donation Request
Plans are already underway for one of our most significant fundraising events of the year – the Willow Springs 22nd Annual Silent Auction! The Silent Auction will take place from April 26th to May 3rd and will be entirely online.
Do you have a small business and want to donate to the auction? Willow Springs PTA loves to support local businesses, and your contributions would be tax deductible.
Please contact Nayyiara Siddiqui at willowspringssa@gmail.com for more details! Even if you don’t have a company or goods to donate, but would like to help find donors or have connections to businesses that may wish to contribute, we would love to hear from you. Last year the Willow Springs Silent Auction brought in over $8,000 for the PTA, and we hope to beat that number this year. Any assistance that you can provide would be sincerely appreciated.
World Festival
Our big event is planned for Friday, May 10th.
Our World Festival planners need your help! They are looking for families (or groups of families) to sponsor booths from all of the diverse countries our students represent. If you or your child are interested in hosting a booth or would like additional information, please sign up before Friday, March 29th.

Kindergarten Registration Now Open for 2019-20 School Year! |
If you have a child who will reach the age of five on or before September 30, 2019, they are eligible to attend kindergarten for the 2019-20 school year. If your child meets the age requirement and lives within the boundaries of Willow Springs Elementary School they may be registered at this time. Please sign up for a registration appointment and reserve a space for the orientation session soon. Forms and documents required for registration can be found through this link (scroll down to Student Registration) to the Willow Springs website. Student registrations have a direct impact on teacher staffing so the sooner registrations take place the better able we are to staff accordingly. WSES SOL Testing Schedule
The Virginia Standards of Learning (SOL) tests are required of all students in Grades 3-8 across the state by the Virginia Department of Education. SOL tests measure the extent to which students have learned the content and skills specified in the Virginia SOLs. In order to assist your spring planning, the SOL schedule is listed below. Please avoid appointments that will take your child out of school during testing. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
