RCMS Student Achievements
The past couple of months have been busy ones for our students as they continue to excel both inside and outside of the classroom. Many of them are participating in extra curricular activities and are bringing home great success stories:
Science Bowl Team
Placed 1st at Regionals and have qualified to compete at Nationals April 25-29, 2019
Math Counts Team
Finished 3rd in the Virginia State Competition held in Richmond, VA
Chess Team
State Champions at the Virginia Scholastic Chess Championship, K-8 Team
Debate Team
Finished in 1st Place at the 4th National Capital Debate League Tournament

This year's 8th grade celebration will be held on June 12, 2019, from 6:30-9:00PM. This fun-filled, festive send-off for our 8th graders will include a DJ, karaoke, inflatables, photo booth, and plenty of refreshments! Be sure to get your ticket early; online ticket sales begin on April 8 at a cost of $20. Ticket prices will increase to $25 on May 28. In-person sales will only take place for 3 days in late May, so don't wait! It's sure to be a night of fun and friends that students won't want to miss!

SCA Baskin Robbins Fundraiser |
The SCA will be having a scoop night on Thursday, March 28 from 3:30-7:30PM at the Baskin Robbins in the Franklin Farm Shopping Center. RCMS staff members will be scooping ice cream, constructing sundaes, and spinning milkshakes. Mark your calendars and join us! 15% of the proceeds will go to the SCA.

From South Lakes HS: Rising 9th grade students are invited to South Lakes High School March 21 at 3:15PM to meet with IB students and learn about the IB Program. Meet us in the cafeteria for small group discussions with the people who really know the ins and outs of the IB program at South Lakes High School – our fabulous students. We look forward to meeting our future Seahawks!
From Westfield HS: Rising freshman interested in playing freshman football at Westfield High School next year should contact Coach Shepherd via email at jkshepherd@fcps.edu. We will begin our spring conditioning program for football on Monday, March 25 at 6:00PM in the Westfield weight room. This performing arts workshop is for rising 7th, 8th, and 9th grade students who want to learn higher level theatre skills, including audition and performance techniques.
