3.14159265359…. need we go on? Celebrated on March 14 each (yes, that’s 3-14), National Pi Day not only commemorates a very special number, but also celebrates the birthday of the great scientist and mathematician Albert Einstein. Pi was first calculated by Archimedes of Syracuse (287–212 BC), one of the greatest mathematicians of the ancient world. National Pi Day has become a day to celebrate numbers and math, and celebrations are held across the country in honor of this very special number. These days, all of the numerical fun is sometimes accompanied by delicious food items such as pizza pie, fruit pie, and even pot pies! So please channel your inner math geek and get ready to calculate, eat, and celebrate everybody’s favorite never-ending number

This is flu season. We have seen an increase in absences for students and staff with flu like symptoms (fever, cough or sore throat). Please encourage all to practice frequent hand washing, covering coughs and sneezes and remaining home for 24 hours after symptoms subside without medication.

- Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard
- Pretend She’s Here by Luanne RiceCongratulations to our student raffle winners that have taken home the books that have been voted out of the competition.Interdisciplinary Unit in 7th Grade
- It is always exciting when a project that has required such focus, hard work, and dedication comes to fruition. This week has offered 7th grade students the opportunity to (finally) make their case for which Progressive Era Agent of Change to name the Hughes Library after. This project is the culmination of weeks of research, writing, and presenting for students and months of planning, revising, and collaborating for the teachers. Congratulations to our 7th grade students for all their hard work and THANK YOU to our 7th grade History and ELA teachers for creating and implementing such a meaningful, authentic, interdisciplinary unit of learning! Stay tuned to see which group of students was the most persuasive at the Library Renaming Ceremony on Friday, March 22nd.
