The Franklin Sherman Flash - March 18

What's Happening in Kindergarten?

k

FSES kindergarten students celebrated the end of their reading unit, Bigger Muscles Bigger Books, by partnering with a friend from another class.  The students read to each other and showed off their extra strength reading super powers.  The kindergarteners have learned pointer power, reread power, picture power, snap word power, sound power, persistence power, word part power, and pattern power.  The students practiced using their book talk power with their partners.  Parents, you can continue to strengthen these "muscles" at home by asking your child to use their book talk power to retell stories you read together.

Science Night Recap

On Thursday, March 14, Franklin Sherman families enjoyed an evening of science.  Franklin Sherman teachers partnered with the Children’s Science Center to bring their Family Science Night Program to FSES to help encourage students to take interest in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) subjects, as well as to encourage students to develop curiosity in everyday life situations.  During the event, students and their parents had the opportunity to engage in many fun, yet educational, science activities.  Thank you to our staff and volunteers who made this night a great success!
