Principal Dave Gerstner with wife Berkeley and children, Avonlea and Cavin
Dear Fairfax Villa Parents and Community Members,
It is with great excitement that I have accepted an offer to become the next principal at Fairfax Villa Elementary School. I recently served as the assistant principal at Floris Elementary School where I was considered a strong instructional leader, an effective communicator, and a consistently positive presence.
As an FCPS administrator, I aspire to establish a school culture and educational program conducive to student learning and socialization. I seek to promote staff professional growth and development while allowing the freedom to take risks. I coordinate efforts with parents and family members to ensure students remain focused and acquire a joy for learning. Putting all of this together results in a supportive learning environment that reinforces the school’s vision and mission.
While there have been several experiences in my career that have prepared me to assume this role, what has driven me to this moment are three core commitments that go hand in hand with our Region 5 goals:
- To provide high quality tier 1 instruction in all classrooms
- To develop high-functioning collaborative teams
- To create a caring community culture
I am honored to serve as the tenth principal of Fairfax Villa! It is a privilege to be a member of a community where parents, teachers and students care for each other and strive to build relationships that promote academic and social growth.
I look forward to working alongside you so that we can continue to create exciting and meaningful learning experiences for our students in the years to come.
My best,
Dave Gerstner

SUPPORTING THE PTA
There are three ways you can support the PTA. 1. Join the PTA! When you join the PTA, you become an advocate for your child and every other Villa student. We normally meet the third Wednesday of the month and many times will have guest speakers or other programs as well. PTA Membership forms will be in your student’s Tuesday folder. You can also join online at http://villapta.ptboard.com. The school code is DRAPTE. 2. Donate! Any amount given is helpful and it all goes into benefits and services that benefit the Villa staff and students. 3. Volunteer! Volunteering is NOT required but it is always greatly appreciated. If you have any questions, please contact us at villapta@gmail.com
