On Friday students celebrated Read Across America. Classrooms had guest readers visit their rooms throughout the week. (Mr. Coch’s daughter below is dressed as the Cat in the Hat!) |

Superintendent, Dr. Brabrand, visited Navy ES last Friday. He walked the hallways and spent some time in four classrooms. After his visit, he mentioned that Navy ES was an AMAZING and GREAT school!
We continue to observe and try to improve Kiss and Ride. As we continue to grow as a school, 1005 students, we understand the increased numbers of Kiss and Ride drivers. Please remember the following if you are driving your child to school:
Safety for Walkers
We have an increased number of walkers at Navy ES. As the weather improves and temperatures increase, we will have even more walkers. Please make sure to pay attention to walkers during arrival and dismissal of Kiss and Ride, especially as they are crossing the streets in neighborhoods.
During Inclement Weather
We have noticed that more parents drive their children to school when it rains or is very cold. This causes quite a backup at Kiss and Ride. When bad weather is an issue, please help us by doing one of the following:
- When it is raining or cold, please have your child ride his or her bus. If your schedule allows, you can drive them to the bus stop and wait together as a family.
- If your schedule does not allow and you choose to drive your child to school, please understand that Kiss and Ride begins at 8:20 am. There isn’t much Kiss and Ride traffic during the 8:20-8:30 time frame. It would be best if you could drop your child off during this time.
On the three-hour early release day for students, the office will close at 1:30 pm. ALL FCPS employees are required to do a training on that day. Thank you for your understanding.
