Cameron Learning Festival

Hey Cameron Families!

Are you ready for some serious fun?  On April 3rd, from 6:00 – 7:30, Cameron will be hosting our very first annual Learning Festival!  What does this mean?  It means Zumba. Food trucks.  Games. And Door prizes. And tons of family fun!

We are currently hosting a logo design contest at our school, where students will design the actual logo for this event. The contest begins February 27th and lasts until March 6th. We will select a winner each week and your picture will be featured in our weekly newsletter to families.  All of the winners will be displayed, too!

If your child would like to participate, please check their Wednesday folder. Pictures are due on Wednesday, March 6th and winners will be announcedon the morning announcements!

Morning Drop Off Safety

The front of the school is a busy place during arrival time in the morning.  Our number one priority is making sure everyone arrives SAFELY to where they need to go.  That is why we remind you of several important Kiss and Ride Rules.

  • Please drive slowly through the parking lot for the safety of everyone!
  • DO NOT PASS in the Kiss and Ride line.  Please wait for the cars ahead of you to move so we don’t have any collisions.
  • Please pull forward completely so we can load and unload 3 cars at a time.
  • Park only in designated parking spots.
  • Drop off only in the unloading zone of Kiss and Ride.

Thank you for helping us to keep our students, staff and families safe.

Attendance Matters

With cold and flu season in full swing, please remember to use our attendance system to let us know if your child is out for illness.  Being in school everyday when your child is not sick is important.  Students who miss more than 10% of school for any reason are more likely to get behind in their learning and eventually are more likely to not graduate from high school.  This includes students who are frequently tardy in the morning or leaving school early.

2 absences per month times 9 months of school equals less likely to graduate from high school

What is Digital Citizenship?

Digital Citizenship can be described as the norms of appropriate, responsible behavior (and its positive and negative impact on self and others) with regard to technology use.  It's important for parents to help their child become safe, ethical, responsible and respectful digital citizens. To do that, you’ll use the same successful parenting strategies you’re already using. FCPS is providing these resources to support family learning and conversations.
