Bike Unit for 4th-6th Grade Students

Bike Unit for 4th – 6th Grade Students (Feb. 25 – Mar. 8)

We are excited to offer our upper grade students the opportunity learn and practice bike riding and safety skills.

Students who wish to bring their own bike and / or helmet are welcome to do so, but this is not required since sufficient bikes, helmets (and hair netting) will be provided for students to use. Please note:

Bikes: Should fit your child and be in good working order. Your child’s bicycle will only be ridden by your child. Student bikes will not be secured or stored at Hunt Valley, so parents will need to drop off and pick up their child’s bicycle, at the bike rack outside the gym, each day that their child has PE.

Helmets: Students are encouraged to bring bike helmets that fit and have already had their straps adjusted since this will result in more time spent riding. If your child does not have a helmet there is no need to purchase one, since helmets are available for use.

Students that opt to bring in a helmet should tape their name to the outside so that it doesn’t get confused with another student’s helmet. Student’s may also wish to check with their teacher to see if they can leave their helmet in their classroom during the bike unit.
