Kiss and Ride Safety
Happy Friday Cavaliers! This has been the first 5 day week in a while! There is a lot to celebrate with students excelling in and out of school in a variety of activities. Many of these are highlighted below. Should you know of others, please don’t hesitate to send them to Dr. Floyd.
As a reminder, please use Kiss and Ride as it is intended. Please pull through the lane all the way before your son or daughter gets out. The safety of our students is our top priority and we need your help!
We have an additional Kiss and Ride area at Entrance 9 if that is more convenient. Please do not pull into faculty or visitor parking spots in the front of the building to let your son or daughter out. This is dangerous and has caused accidents just this week. Thank you all for your help in this matter.
Have a safe weekend, Cavaliers!
Social Media Safety
Parents and guardians, check the social media, photos and messages your sons and daughters are sending and receiving. Please discuss safe use of the various messaging apps and internet use.
Should you need a springboard for discussion, visit FCPS's resources on Preventing Teen Sexting. Please reach out if you need assistance, we are here as partners in education.
Early Checkouts from School
For early dismissals, please complete this Check-Out Form or write a note that includes the student name, date and time, and reason for early check-out, parent signature and contact number. Students must bring the note to the Attendance Office by 9:45 a.m. to receive a pink check-out pass. At the time of dismissal, your son/daughter will bring the pink check-out pass back to the Attendance Office for verification before meeting you outside.
There will be no unannounced early dismissals within 15 minutes of school dismissal.
For full details on Attendance Procedures, please visit the Attendance page on the Woodson website.

Opportunities for course changes will be limited next year. Friday, May 31st will be the last day to make course selection changes.
The third quarter of the academic year is always interesting. Some students get fatigued with the routines of school, classwork, and homework. If your student did poorly in the first semester and you are concerned whether or not he/she can still pass a course for the year, communicate with your student’s teacher.
