Glasgow Community:

Despite the limited school week, there were a number of events that celebrated our Panther Principles of Kindness, Commitment and Safety. We celebrated students who are ‘committed’ to their academics and earned All A Honor Roll. On Friday, we hosted our monthly Panther Store. Students were able to trade in their Panther Cards, which they received for demonstrating our Panther Principles, for prizes during lunch.

The talent of the students at Glasgow will be on full display this week. We will recognizing students who earned All A and B Honor Roll during Panther Time on Monday. The Glasgow Orchestra and Band will host their “Pre-Assessment Concerts”.  The Orchestra concert is Tuesday, February 26 and the Band concert is Wednesday, February 27. Both concerts are at Justice High School at 7:00 PM and are free and open to the public.

After attending the concert(s), check out the Justice Pyramid Art Show, also at Justice High School. Come see the amazing work of past, present and future Glasgow students.

Finally, the annual Glasgow Spelling Bee will be held this Wednesday, February 27 at 2:30pm in the Glasgow Lecture Hall. All Glasgow students are invited to participate! The winner of the Bee will advance to the Fairfax County Bee in March, and will receive a $50 Amazon gift card. Second- and third-place finishers will receive $25 Amazon gift cards. Word study lists are available in the office; additional study materials can be found at spellingbee.com.

As always, please let me know if you have any questions.

In most cases, test scores are available for parents by the end of the school year. More information about how and when you will receive your student’s scores will be shared closer to these dates. Important Information

2019-2020 Course Registration for Rising 7th Graders - Glasgow Student Services is excited to begin meeting with your students to register them for next year’s courses! Counselors will meet one-on-one with each student to review course options and complete the course selection form. In addition, students learned about course options in Panther Time. Students explored the kinds of classes they can take, the difference between general education and honors classes, and what choices they have for electives. After reviewing the information students completed a “think sheet” to practice selecting their classes.

Please note that all course request changes are due by April 12, 2019. Finalizing requests by this date allows us to invest in staffing and resources based on students’ needs and interests. We will be finalizing schedules and placements throughout the late Spring and summer months.

Celebrating Kindness at Glasgow - As a school we are celebrating Kindness Month in the upcoming weeks for the rest of the month of February and March. Teachers and staff are encouraged to pass out as many Kindness panther cards as possible to our deserving KIND students. As per usual, students will be able to trade in their panther cards to our Panther Stores for a prize but in addition they will also be entered into a raffle to win a special kindness prize.
