Students at Lees Corner Elementary are invited to join in a week-long celebration to honor the birthday of Dr. Seuss. Theodore Seuss Geisel, aka Dr. Seuss, was a beloved author who wrote many, many children’s books full of bright colors, clever rhymes, unusual characters, and life lessons. The festivities in honor of his birthday are scheduled for the week of Feb. 25th--Mar. 1st. Flyers listing the events for each day went home this week in the students' folders. Box Tops Collection Time |
It's time for our BoxTop Contest of 2019! Please collect and bring in as many BoxTops for Education as you can! We ask that you just place them in a Ziploc bag, with your name and teacher's name for easy identification.
The top 3 classes with the most BoxTops collected will earn a Pajama Day and 15 bears (1st), 10 bears (2nd) and 5 bears (3rd).
The last collection day for THIS contest will be Monday, February 25th.
If you want to enroll your child for the 13 week chess course offered on Fridays from 3:45-4:45pm, now is the time! Classes will begin on February 22nd and run through May 31st. Please use the link below to register for this activity.

Time for March Madness! |
Hi Parents! Get your tickets and spirit wear NOW for the Lees Corner vs. Oak Hill basketball game. The event will be held at Chantilly High School on March 8, 2019 at 6:00 PM.
Online ticket sales and orders for t-shirts and spirit items will be available from now until Friday, March 1 at 5:00 PM.
To order, go to https://www.pt-avenue.com (click "log in" on the upper right side of the screen, and enter the organization code: leescornerpta Then, click the shopping cart image on the upper right side of the screen to get to the Online Store). All pre-orders, including t-shirts for cheerleaders and basketball players will be sent to students by March 4.
There will be lobby sales the week of the game starting March 4 for all remaining items. Hours will be Monday through Friday 8:15 - 8:40 a.m. Bring cash or check!
Admission is FREE for basketball players, cheerleaders, and band members. Parents must purchase a ticket for entry. If you have a hardship, please contact the school counselors.
The 6th grade boys and girls teams are practicing hard to beat Oak Hill, and the cheer squad is getting ready too. Go Lees Corner!!!

Evening Performances This Spring |
Below is an overview of music events that are coming up at Lees Corner this Spring. Please check the various Google Classroom sites for more details.
Our students are working hard and we look forward to sharing our music with you!
Wednesday, March 20th – Chorus Concert, 7 pm
Wednesday, April 10th – 6th Grade Musical, “Lion King” 7 pm
Thursday, April 25th – Strings Concert, 7pm
Wednesday, May 1st – Band Spring Concert, 7pm
Wednesday, June 5th – 2nd Grade Musical, 7pm
Elementary Institute for the Arts (EIFTA) Camps are run through FCPS and include transportation from local high school or middle school (last year was Rocky Run).
For current 3rd - 5th graders:
EIFTA – July 8th – 26th
Choose 1, 2 or all 3 weeks. Students take art, music, theater, and dance classes each day. Classes change each week.

IFTA – July 1st – 26th (no class July 4th or 5th)
