This is Mrs. Millard's 11th year here at Aldrin Elementary. She grew up at the Jersey Shore and graduated from Elon College in North Carolina. She is married and has two children Jack (22), who is a graduate of South Lakes High School where he played football and lacrosse, and Hampden Sydney College. Jack lives in New York City and works in finance. Meredith is a junior at South Lakes and plays field H\hockey and lacrosse and works as a lacrosse referee! She also has a yellow lab, "GUS" who they rescued. As a family they love the Washington Nationals and going back to New Jersey to the beach. Fun facts--she LOVES Disney World, the beach and watching her kids play sports. She has never drank coffee or eaten pie, A lot of people find it weird…but it is the truth!!! |
This school year is Mr. Houston’s 5th year teaching at Aldrin Elementary. He grew up in Fairfax County and attended Westfield High School where he played baseball. In 2014, he graduated from George Mason University with a degree in Health and Physical Education. Mr. Houston has a wife of two years and a dog at home. In June they will be welcoming a new addition to the family--Mr. and Mrs. Houston are expecting their first child on June 19th. Mr. Houston is a big fan of the West Virginia Mountaineers and the Boston Red Sox but his favorite team is the Washington Capitals. He goes to a few games a year and was able to see the Caps raise the 2018 Stanley Cup Champions banner in October, 2018. GO CAPS! |

At Aldrin this week, we continued with school-wide events to celebrate our diversity and honor the lives and contributions of African Americans.
Students in Grades Kindergarten--6th attended the assembly "Spirit to Overcome." The assembly was well-received and enjoyed by teachers and students. It was interactive and students were able to participate as they learned about Black History. Pictures were posted to our school twitter account. Please join us on twitter @AldrinEagles.
Classroom teachers continue to teach new topics weekly from FCPS and Virginia Department of Education resources. Ask your child what they've learned about Black History this month.

When a teacher became sick on Friday and there were no substitute teachers available, Mr. Wolfe jumped right in to the classroom and became the substitute for the remainder of the day.
Though the curriculum may have changed a little in the intervening years, Mr. Wolfe hasn't lost his touch--2nd grade was one of the grades he taught before becoming an administrator. And, though he was in 2nd grade as a substitute on Friday, he (and our assistant principals) LOVE getting into as many classrooms around the building as much as possible!
