Dear Waynewood Owls,
Happy 100th Day of School! There were many fun and exciting activities happening throughout the school today to celebrate. It is hard to believe that we are more than halfway through the school year. Time flies when you are having fun!
Pitchers and catchers may have reported to training camp in Florida this week, but the Racing Presidents reported to Waynewood today! The Washington Nationals brought the Racing Presidents for a special (surprise) Presidents’ Day assembly this morning. We were treated to a Home Run Derby and we are all so excited for baseball to start! A huge thank you to the Nationals for this special treat. The kids (and staff) were thrilled! Go Nats!
You may have noticed that our new electronic sign has been installed. We are learning how to use the software so that we can communicate all our exciting events. It may take us a few days to get the hang of it, so thank you for your patience.
Last week’s PTA Bingo Night was a huge success! Thank you to our Bingo Chairs, Lisa Walsh and Colleen Mortimer for a fun event. Our Bingo callers, TJ Taylor and Ben Reigner deserve special recognition for a job well done as well! We also had a very successful Book Fair this week, thanks to Kelli Adams and Stacey Bologna. We saw many happy faces as they walked out of the Book Fair with new books to read.
Our next PTA event to note is Moe’s Night on February 20 from 5:00-8:00 pm. Clean Kitchen Nights are an easy way to feed your family and support the school at the same time. We hope to see you there!
Please help us spread the word that kindergarten orientation for our future Waynewood Owls will be on Monday, April 5. We can’t wait to meet all our new families and welcome some younger siblings to the nest.
As a reminder, there is no school on Monday due to Presidents’ Day. Have a great long weekend!
Sincerely,
Katie Cachine, Principal
Alice Berenbaum
Have you gotten your tickets yet? The silent auction will be here soon! There are many exciting items to bid on. There are also many staff donated experiences to bid on. Would your child like to be principal for the day? Or have an extra hour of recess for their class? Perhaps they’d like to help run a fire drill or have lunch with a teacher. These are all things that are up for grabs this year!
The silent auction will be held on March 9 from 7:30-9:30 pm at the Mount Vernon Country Club. Tickets are available now. You can buy them here:

Proceeds from the event will fund important school programs and events. We appreciate your support!
