National Scholastic Press Association Award
Congratulations to the Tartan literary magazine! The Tartan is a publication that shares student’s writing and art work. It is published at the end of each school year and students participating in the Tartan do so on a volunteer basis. They do everything from choosing the work that gets in, working with the artists and writers to edit work, arranging the magazine, and then designing it all in Adobe InDesign. They also organize various fund raisers and campaign throughout the year for submissions and to get others involved.
The 2018 Tartan was awarded a First Class rating by the National Scholastic Press Association. Additionally, the magazine received Honorable Mention from NSPA for Design of the Year (top 10 in the country)!
The Virginia High School League (VHSL) also recognized the magazine by awarding the Tartan with the Trophy Class award.
Congratulations to all students who submitted work to the magazine!

 Theatre McLean
Theatre Mclean’s production of Lord of the Flies was a labor of love. Over 70 students worked together to completely transform the stage to an idyllic island. That peaceful island is completely disrupted when a plane of boys crash into the forest floor. From there, we see the destruction of humanity as the boys try to build a new world, many times with disastrous results.
