Positivity Project (P2) Weekly Update: This week we focused on Love.
The P2 Blog tells us: "Love means that we value close relationships with others and being close to people. The character strength of love represents the way we think, feel, and behave towards the people with whom we have close relationships. When one person loves another person, that person: comforts and makes the other feel safe; sacrifices on the other’s behalf; supports the other during struggles; and places the other’s needs ahead of his/her own. If you love a person, that person makes you feel safe and secure. You can be yourself with that person. You miss that person when he/she is not around. Positive psychology looks at love as reciprocal, not one-sided. That means crushes, stalking, and celebrity worship do not fall into this strength. What is contained in this strength are: romantic love and friendship; love between parents and children; and emotional bonds between family members, friends, mentors, teammates, or coworkers."
Next week’s focus will be: Kindness
.

School Environment Parent Survey: Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) is studying how school environments relate to discipline practices in the division. As part of the study, you will receive a survey from the FCPS Office of Research and Strategic Improvement (ORSI). The surveys are designed to help FCPS understand your and your child’s thoughts about the school environment and how discipline is approached in the school setting.
Surveys to parents will be translated into multiple languages and come via eNotify.
Participation is voluntary for you and your child, and all responses will be anonymous.
We encourage you to participate in this important survey to help FCPS understand what is working well and where we can improve.
