All Pro Tigers

Fairhill All Pro Tigers provides an opportunity for dads and other role models to spend quality time with their children at school that will strengthen their relationship, as well as benefiting our school and the entire community.  It is a vital part of the National PTA’s Strategy for Engagement for Men.  We meet for breakfast, engage in conversation, participate in activities, win prizes, and have FUN.   Join us for our next meet-up on Friday, February 22 from 8:10-9:10 in the cafeteria.  Sign up using this link: https://allprodadsday.com/chapters/11174

Our focus this month will be on KINDNESS.  How do we change the world? One act of kindness at a time. The key to life is found in relationship. Good relationships are begun and maintained through the kindness we show one another. Our children need to learn kindness and be shown kindness.

Portrait of a Tiger

Ms. Samantha Gauta, ESOL Lead Teacher and  Equity Lead

When did you realize you wanted to become an ESOL teacher?

I knew I wanted to be an ESOL teacher when I was in elementary school. My dad came to the US as a teenager from Croatia and did not speak English. He used to tell me stories about how challenging it was to learn English, and he didn’t have ESOL or English teachers to support him. From listening to his stories, I was inspired to teach and make a positive impact on English Learners and support English language development for students.

What made you want to work at an elementary school?

I student taught in both elementary and middle school grade levels, and I just absolutely loved working with students in grades K-6! Students’ experience in elementary school helps set the groundwork for their learning in the future—I wanted to be one of the teachers that helped make sure students had the best elementary school experience possible!

Name something you would like to improve upon.

I want to get better at time management… it’s important to make time for yourself and for your loved ones, so I want to make sure I balance that as best as I can!

Which school/university did you attend?

I went to University of Delaware for undergrad (Go Blue Hens!) and George Mason for grad school (Go Patriots!)

What do you think of Fairhill? Why do you think this is the right school for you?

Fairhill is such a special place to teach and learn. As soon as I came here and met the students, families and staff, I knew it was the perfect fit for me!

School Health Services Survey

The Fairfax County Health Department (FCHD) employs school health aides and public health nurses who provide school health services to the students in Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS). To determine the quality of these services, a survey has been developed by the FCHD to be shared with all parents or guardians and school staff members who interact with the school health rooms. This may include principals, school counselors, and main office staff members. The survey has been approved for distribution by the FCPS’ Internal Survey Advisory Committee.

Electronic versions of the survey forms may be accessed at:

School Health Services Survey – Parents 2019: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/85QGH7C

School Health Services Survey-Parents 2019 (Spanish): https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/LLSF55F

The survey will take less than five minutes to complete and will provide the FCHD with valuable information. Your participation in this important endeavor is appreciated.
