Hello McNair Families,
Don't forget that school will be closed on Monday, February 18th in observance of Presidents Day. We will welcome back our Mustangs on Tuesday!
Kindness Week
Next week our school will be celebrating Kindness Week. Below is a breakdown of what we will be celebrating each day. Some days incorporate dress-up days, which we encourage all of our Mustangs to participate. Thank you for our wonderful counseling team for organizing this fun and meaningful event!
Monday 2/18 “Throw Kindness Around Like Confetti” Students choose a kind act to do at home.
Tuesday 2/19 “Kindness is a Superpower” Wear superhero clothing or colors.
Wednesday 2/20 “Put Name-calling to Rest” Wear school-appropriate pajamas. (Or do Workout Wednesday!)
Thursday 2/21 “Brighten Someone’s Day” Wear grade-level colors. (6th=red/pink; 5th=orange; 4th=yellow; 3rd=green; 2nd=blue; 1st=purple; Kindergarten=rainbow)
Friday 2/22 “Be a H.E.R.O. (Help, Encourage, & Respect Others)” Wear a hero/stand up to bullying shirt or anything pink!
Update on New School
The fence will be going up this upcoming week and we are set to break ground on the new school during the first week of March! In preparation for this, if you or someone you know is parking their car along Fox Mill Road in front of the field area, it needs to be move. Cars parked along the site of the new school will be towed once construction begins. No parking will be allowed on this portion of Fox Mill Road.
PTA Announcements
Science Olympiad Division B - Regional Tournament
Kudos to our 6th graders for their stellar performance at the Virginia Science Olympiad Regional Tournament. They competed against 30 teams consisting of 6th-8th graders from Fairfax and Loudoun Middle Schools and were placed in Top 10 in 8 events. Here is the list of our budding scientists and engineers who won the medals at the regional tournament:

Fourth Place - Circuit Lab: Arnav J., Avnith V.
Fifth Place - Battery Buggy: Arnav J., Avnith V.

All Science Olympiad A and B participants will be awarded certificates during the PTA meeting on Wednesday, February 20th at 6:30 pm. Please join us in celebrating the team's efforts and successes!
PTA General Membership Meeting - February 20th
PTA General Membership meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, February 20th at 6:30pm at the school cafeteria. Meeting agenda includes information about the Google Be Internet Awesome event, upcoming PTA activities. Free childcare will be provided.
McNair Ball - Glow Party - February 22nd
McNair PTA invites you to come, "Get Your Glow On" at the McNair Ball fun event on Friday, February 22nd between 6:30-8:30 pm. Come join your classmates and friends for an evening loaded with fun and dance your heart out!
Advance ticket purchase required. No ticket sale at the door and on the day of the event.. Ticket includes admission, food, free printed photos at the photo booth, and a raffle entry for prizes. Please purchase your tickets online at https://mcnair.ptboard.com/formvw/form?store=776&form=12.A parent or guardian is required to accompany each student to the event.
This is event is open to all 3-6th grade students and parents/guardians of McNair. No PTA Membership is required to attend. Thank you for supporting your PTA!
