School Environment: Parent Survey

Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) is studying how school environments relate to discipline practices in the Division. As part of the study, you will receive a survey from FCPS’ Office of Research and Strategic Improvement (ORSI). The surveys are designed to help FCPS understand your and your child’s thoughts about the school environment and how discipline is approached in their school.

Surveys to parents will be translated into multiple languages and come via eNotify.

Participation is voluntary for you and your child, and all responses will be anonymous.

We encourage you to participate in this important survey to help FCPS understand what is working well and where we can improve.

Dress for the Weather

The weather this time of year can be unpredictable, with temperatures sometimes changing quickly throughout the day. Dressing in layers is often helpful. Please make sure your students are coming to school with coats, hats and gloves, if appropriate, as they still go outside for recess whenever possible.

Please Support Pennies for Patients

Cameron students will be taking part in The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Pennies for Patients program from 2/4/2019- 3/1/2019.

During this program, students will collect money to support LLS’ mission:  Cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.

Students will learn about service, leadership, philanthropy and how they can make a difference by changing patients’ lives.

Cameron Elementary has its own online giving page that students, parents and faculty can share with friends and family:

School Health Services Survey

The Fairfax County Health Department (FCHD) employs school health aides and public health nurses who provide school health services to the students in Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS). To determine the quality of these services, a survey has been developed by the FCHD to be shared with all parents or guardians and school staff members who interact with the school health rooms.

Electronic versions of the survey forms may be accessed at:

School Health Services Survey – Parents 2019: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/85QGH7C

School Health Services Survey-Parents 2019 (Spanish): https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/LLSF55F

The survey will take less than five minutes to complete and will provide the FCHD with valuable information.  Your participation in this important endeavor is appreciated.

Fourth Graders create Kinetic Sculptures

Photo of hot air balloon sculptures

The fourth graders had been working hard in Art to make their paper mache hot air balloons to portray KINETIC SCULPTURES.  The students blew the balloons, used paper mache to mold and design the balloons, wove the baskets, and tied the baskets to the balloons.  Many skills were incorporated in these hot air balloons.  If you have not got a chance to walk by the art/music/PE hallway, swing by to look at these awesome hot air balloons before they float away!
