 Congratulations 5th & 6th Grade Chorus!!!
Dear Families,
What a musical celebration we had Wednesday night! A standing ovation goes out to Mrs. Fox, Mrs. Murphy and our chorus for their wonderful performances at the Westfield Pyramid Concert at Westfield High School. Our young musicians couldn’t be so successful without the encouragement of parents, families, and friends and we thank you for continuing to support the arts.
February is a special month when we show our appreciation for so many people who help to make Floris a wonderful place for students to learn and grow. This week, we celebrated National School Counseling Week, and so we take this opportunity to honor our wonderful counselors, Mrs. Ramia and Mrs. de Kramer. They both go above and beyond the typical expectations of a school counselor for the sake of our students and families. They are well-known throughout our community, and are seen as trusted adults who students can go to for advice, to talk when they are feeling down, or simply to blow off steam. As we celebrate National School Counseling Week, we say thank you, Mrs. Ramia and Mrs. de Kramer, for everything that you do for our students, parents, and staff!
KISS ‘N RIDE: We have noticed an increasing number of cars driving too fast into our school parking lot and around the loop for Kiss and Ride in the mornings. This is extremely unsafe for both the students and for the staff members helping to unload the cars. Please be mindful of your speed as you enter the school zone. We appreciate your cooperation.
REMINDER: The Floris Science Fair is being held on Thursday, February 21st. Registration is closed as we have reached capacity. Please join us on February 21st from 6:15 – 8:00 PM to see what our fabulous Floris scientists are exhibiting.

FCPS Family Engagement Survey
Fairfax County Public Schools will be conducting a survey to gather information about family engagement in our schools. Relationships are important to us, and your opinion is critical to help us support your engagement in your child’s education. Your feedback will also help us determine how well we are reaching the goals for Caring Culture we have set in our Strategic Plan. Survey translations will be made available, and the survey can be taken on electronic devices, including smartphones.
Survey administration is scheduled for March 24-April 12, 2019, and you will receive more information about how to take the survey in the near future.
