Yearbook Pre-order Sales flyers will be coming home later this month.
Dear Parents,
Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) is studying how school environments relate to discipline practices in the Division. As part of the study, you will receive a survey from FCPS’ Office of Research and Strategic Improvement (ORSI). The surveys are designed to help FCPS understand your and your child’s thoughts about the school environment and how discipline is approached in their school.
Surveys to parents will be translated into multiple languages and come via eNotify. Participation is voluntary for you and your child, and all responses will be anonymous.
I encourage you to participate in this important survey to help FCPS understand what is working well and where we can improve.
Thank you,
Patricia A. Granada, Ed. D Principal, Greenbriar West Elementary School
Dear GBW Families,
Student safety is our highest priority. The need for safety is especially evident during student arrival and dismissal at our Kiss and Ride.
- We encourage all drivers to approach the school entrance by taking a right from Poplar Tree Road. Drivers taking a right from Poplar Tree Road into the school entrance have the right of way.
- We encourage all drivers leaving the school to take a right onto Poplar Tree Road. This helps with the flow of Kiss and Ride. We have cones on the right side to support this practice.
Ultimately, our system is only as good as the drivers using it. All drivers must understand that we have a high volume of cars in a short period of time, and this requires patience and diligence at all times. It is up to each driver to maintain high standards of safety to protect our students and prevent accidents.
Thank you for your commitment to all of our students’ safety.
Patricia A. Granada, Ed. D Principal, Greenbriar West Elementary School
The Survey of Preschool Children form is going home in today’s Thursday folder. If you have a child who will be five years old on or before September 30, 2019, please complete and return the form to the office by February 22, 2019. Please share this information with your neighbors should they have children who will be eligible for kindergarten in 2019-20 school year. We are particularly interested in reaching families who reside in Greenbriar West’s boundary and do not have children attending school.
Students in grades 3-6 will participate in the Standards of Learning (SOL) Online Assessments from May 6-31. Please review the testing schedule below in order to avoid making appointments that may take students out of school during this time period. Thank you for your support and assistance with our SOL test administration.
