 Spelling Bee Participants
Congratulations to Kadyn our winner and Sam our runner up!
Administrator Avenue
Dear Fairhill Families,
We have had a snowy start to 3rd quarter and February. Progress Reports will be sent home today. As always, we view progress reports as another communication tool that strengthens the home/school partnership. Should you have any questions or concerns about your tigers academic or behavioral progress, please reach out to the classroom teacher!
We are getting ready for our annual Family Heritage Night (formerly named International Night)! Please join us from 6-8 pm on February 22nd and bring a favorite family dish to share. This year, students have the opportunity to create a display board of the country they identify their heritage with (USA included) or walk in the Fashion Show. The deadline to sign up is THIS Friday, February 8th. If your child would like to participate, please fill out and detach the permission slip that went home in Tuesday folders. If you have misplaced the permission slip, please email Mrs. Taruc nbtaruc@fcps.edu.
We continue to have a great number of tardy students. As a reminder, the first bell rings at 9:10 and students need to be in their classrooms by the second bell which is at 9:20. Students that arrive after that time are considered tardy and parents must walk tardy students into the office. Please do not drop off your child and have them walk in alone if they arrive after 9:20. If there is a two-hour delay, students should arrive at 11:10 for a 11:20 start. When your child is late, they miss having a smooth start to their day and the community building that happens at the beginning of the day. Please help your child have the best day possible by getting them to school on time. Buses are always considered on time so if that is an option, have your child ride the bus.
We look forward to seeing everyone next Wednesday, February 13th for our monthly PTA meeting.
As always, we are a team! Have a question or a concern? Email us or call using the contact info below!
Warmly,
Mrs. Hunstad and Mrs. Korb
Fairhill Friends Forever
Fairhill Friends Forever meet every Thursday morning during morning announcements for 10-15 jam-packed minutes of fun activities, games and interaction. 6th grade students are matched with younger students at our school in grades K – 3rd for relationship building. The program focuses on developing leadership skills and building our school community through inclusive practices, bridging gaps between themselves and others.
Here is a spotlight of one such pair, 6th grader Marianna and her 3rd grade buddy, Tatianna:
"Before my buddy and I were first partners, we hung out together and had fun. Now when she sees me walking in the halls she waves excitedly to me. That puts a smile on my face EVERY TIME! And when I say goodbye to her she will give me a hug that WARMS MY HEART! Knowing that she gives me hugs and other things that show friendship makes me think I am making her have a great day and a Happy Heart". - Marianna

Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) is studying how school environments relate to discipline practices in the Division. As part of the study, you will receive a survey from FCPS’ Office of Research and Strategic Improvement. A small number of classrooms will also participate in the study’s student survey. The surveys are designed to help FCPS understand your and your child’s thoughts about the school environment and how discipline is approached in their school.
Surveys to parents will be translated into multiple languages and come via eNotify. Student surveys will be administered at school. Participation is voluntary for you and your child, and all responses will be anonymous.
We encourage you to participate in this important survey to help FCPS understand what is working well and where we can improve.
