Rambunctious Theatre Company is taking things back to a wilder time...  Grab your acid washed jeans, tease your hair, and throw on your favorite leather jacket for Rambunctious Theatre Company's production of Rock of Ages: Middle School Edition. A tribute to the Los Angeles Rock and roll scene of the mid to late 80's featuring classics by Bon Jovi, Whitesnake, Quiet Riot, Journey, and more, join Rambunctious in this one of a kind concert-like experience from February 8-17.

After School Activities

Sign-up Procedures

Students sign-up for activities during their lunch period on the café stage each day the activity is scheduled.

Select programs require a separate registration due to design and/or time commitment involved.  Click here to view the list.  Return all forms to Ms. Aunon or to your sub school office.

Activity Period:  3:00 to 4:25pm.  Attendance is taken and a small snack provided. Late bus routes are posted in each sub school office window.

Late bus days:  Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday; departing at 4:45pm.  Parent pick-up on Tuesdays and Fridays at 4:30pm, entrance #1.

Classic Cinema Club

Join the Classic Cinema Club in Rm. A114 on Thursday, Feb. 14, Valentine’s Day, for the romantic adventure, The Princess Bride.

Watch to see if Westley and Buttercup’s love can survive kidnapping, pirates, rodents of unusual size, and even death.  Sign-up at lunch on 2/14!


Dance Team

The middle school dance team practices on Thursdays from 3:00 to 4:25pm. If you did not attend the interest meeting on January 10th, you are still welcome to join!  Students with all levels of experience are welcome to participate and there will be several performance opportunities. Meet in the main hallway by the middle school.

Diversity Club

The Robinson Middle School Diversity Club is a student initiated and all-inclusive club that helps to encourage a climate at our school that supports all students, including all walks of multiculturalism: race, religion, national origin, gender expression and orientation. Get involved in supporting diversity here at Robinson.  This club meets on Mondays in Room A210.

ECO Club | THE GREEN TEAM

Join the GREEN Team if you are interested in pursuing school based eco initiatives. The GREEN Team is currently working on improving the recycling program at Robinson. Contact 7th grade science teacher, Ms. Riddick, with any specific questions or attend a meeting to learn more.  We need YOU to join our team!  Sign-up at lunch each Thursday you'd like to stay and meet in A202.

Football Conditioning & Weight Training

Students participating in this program must have parent permission due to the use of the high school weight room equipment.  Return the completed Parental Authorization and Acknowledgment of Risk form to your sub school office. Hard copies will also be available during lunch periods in the cafeteria.

Program days:  Mondays and Thursdays. Students may join this program at any time this winter or spring.

Homework Club

Students wishing to stay in the library after school need to sign-up for Homework Club offered on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. All resources will be available for student use, but space is limited to 20 students each day.  Students will meet in a classroom for attendance and snack and proceed to the library at 3:10pm.

The next service meeting is Monday, February 25th in the Gold Cafeteria from 3-4:30pm. 20 Service Hours are due at the end of the 3rd Quarter - April 4th (same day as your Civics hours). If you did not bring supplies to the last meeting, please get them to me in A110 as soon as possible.

To log into x2VOL and add your hours, you must go into Blackboard first, then click on Navience logo and scroll down to the x2VOL link. After that, it will take you to the x2VOL homescreen. To add hours, choose the "Opportunities and Projects" where you can add your hours. Once verified, they will be approved.

See the attachment in Google Classroom and posters in the SS8 locker bay regarding what to bring with you to the February 25th meeting for the April 8th service meeting.

Running Club 

Running Club meets after school on Wednesdays.  We run, sprint, walk, and have a "game" after each session.  We always welcome new members! 

Leave all backpacks in your locker and wear sneakers.  During the winter, we will continue to meet and will use the middle school fitness room if we have inclement weather.  We look forward to seeing you!

Sign-up during your lunch period each Wednesday you plan to stay and change in locker bay restrooms before meeting by 3:00pm in the main hallway by the middle school.

Strategy Games Club

Students are invited to stay to play a variety of strategic board games, such as Catan, Risk, and Ticket to Ride. There will be opportunities for beginners to learn how to play as well as those who are experienced. This is a no phone zone and there will not be access to computers for video gaming.

This club meets on Thursdays in A100.  Space is limited to 20 each Thursday, so make sure to sign-up at lunch each time you want to stay to play!

VA STAR Computer Engineering Club

Refurbish laptop computers for donation to those in need in our school community!  This program meets on Wednesdays on a biweekly basis.

Volleyball | New!

The middle school volleyball program will be starting for all MS girls on March 4th. The MS Volleyball program will be held every Monday and Tuesday.  Late bus service is available on Monday, departing Robinson at 4:45pm, but parent pick-up is required at 4:30pm on Tuesdays.

Plan to attend the interest meeting at 3:00pm on Wednesday, 2/27 in A208 for program details and to meet Coach Hughes.

Community Happenings

Academic Boosters Needs You

The Academic Boosters Club serves all of Robinson Secondary. In the Middle School, we collect Box Tops and turn them into cash for school enrichment programs.  In the High School, we sponsor scholarships for Seniors.  We partner with student services to recognize student achievement throughout the school year.  Membership dues are $27 per year and come with one full-length mock SAT exam for one student per year.  Registration is at this link: https://www.roboacademicboosters.com/membership/ We have many volunteer roles that need to be filled.  If you are interested in a leadership role as President, Treasurer, or Secretary, please contact Cathy Tompkins at ctompkin@gmu.edu.

The next Box Tops collection deadline is Feb. 15, 2019.  There is a collection box in the main office, and one in the Seventh Grade Sub School office.

Registration Open for Select FCPS Summer Learning Opportunities

Registration opens on February 4 for the following Fairfax County Public Schools summer enrichment camps and institutes: Elementary Institute for the Arts (E-IFTA), Institute for the Arts (IFTA), STEM Camp, Tech Adventure Camp, and Adult and Community Education (ACE) Extended Day Enrichment programs. These camps and institutes will be held at Fairfax High School.

General information on individual programs and registration is available on the Summer Learning web page. Transportation from select schools outside of the Fairfax High School pyramid is included in the tuition for E-IFTA, IFTA, STEM Camp, and Tech Adventure Camp. Students should register for programs based on the grade they are in during the current 2018-19 school year.

It is hard to believe that we have already started planning for the 2019-2020 school year, but things are in full swing! This month students will begin selecting courses and meet individually and in groups with their counselors to review their selections. We suggest you take a look at our website to see our course descriptions and watch videos about the classes we will offer next year. Just seeing this information may answer many of your questions regarding class selection at Robinson Middle.
