Halley Families,

The week of February 4-8 is National School Counseling Week and provides us with an opportunity to thank our two wonderful school counselors, Lisa Ware and Margie Ascierto. Our counselors are preparing students to become lifelong learners and productive members in a global society with a focus on social emotional wellness, academic success, and college and career readiness. Thank you to all of our school counseling professionals in FCPS for the tremendous work they do!

Please take a moment to thank one or both of our counselors by completing this short form   (Thank a Counselor).

On the topic of social emotional wellness, we want to provide families a couple updated resources. Our middle and high schools are experiencing a dramatic increase in students vaping and FCPS has updated their resources for students and parents/guardians:

https://www.fcps.edu/vaping and https://www.fcps.edu/resourcesstudent-safety-and-wellnessalcohol-tobacco-and-other-drug-programs/information.

FCPS Fairfax HS is hosting a viewing of “Angst”, a documentary aimed at raising awareness around anxiety among kids and teens, on February 20th at 6:30 pm. The documentary is appropriate for parents/guardians of students in grades K-12 and students over the age of 13.

We are very excited and looking forward to kicking off the Salad Bar at Halley next week! The salad bar will provide students (and staff) with fresh vegetables, fruit, proteins and grains. Please take an opportunity to view this introduction video Salad Bar Intro Video!

Have a great weekend and stay warm!

Dr. Simpkins, Mr. Salerno, and Mrs. Peerman
