Academic Advising is currently underway where students are meeting with their counselors individually to select classes for next year. Here are some resources and tips as students complete course selections:
- The 2019-2020 course registration sheets and course catalogue are available at https://hayfieldss.fcps.edu/student-services.
- This year, Hayfield High School is piloting an Online Course Registration tool with FCPS. This will supplement the course selection sheets that we have used in previous years. Students have access to request courses through their StudentVue accounts until they meet with their counselor.
- Current Juniors are meeting with their counselors through February 5.
- Current Sophomores will meet with their counselors February 8 -15.
- Current Freshmen will meet with their counselors February 19 - 16.
Edison Academy is having an open house on Saturday, February 9 from 10 am - 1 pm. Meet with teachers, students, and business partners, and take tours of the facilities. More information is available here: https://edisonacademy.fcps.edu/
Subject: Dual Enrolled (DE) English 12 Next Year
Current juniors planning to select Online DE English 12 as their required English class for senior year must be deemed “college ready” by Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA). In order to qualify, students must meet one of the following criteria.
- 480 or higher on the SAT Evidenced-Based Reading and Writing Section
- 18 or higher on both the ACT English and Reading Sections
These scores must be received by Hayfield High School by May 3. If your student does not currently have a qualifying score, he/she should plan to take the next SAT and/or the ACT offered.
Students may select the class during their advising meeting with their counselor even if they do NOT have the required testing at that time. They MUST have the testing by May 3. They will also be required to have all of the “application materials” for NOVA completed by May 8. Please contact your student's counselor for more information.
General Dual Enrollment Information is available at the FCPS public site: https://www.fcps.edu/academics/high-school-academics-9-12/advanced-academics/dual-enrollment
