Positivity Project

Our students continue to learn about the 24 character strengths and virtues. This month classes spent ten minutes a day defining, describing, and engaging in activities that promote the character strengths perseverance, hope/optimism and prudence.

As we start 2019 students will be learning about perseverance. This is the perfect time to discuss New Year’s Resolutions and how to persevere for the remainder of the school year. The positivity project defines perseverance as: “You complete what you start despite obstacles. You never give up.”

Hope and optimism is described as “You expect the best from your future and work to achieve it.” Take time to discuss with your children different ways they can be positive and optimistic. Ask them, “what are some goals you have for this school year?”

Students from Ms. Spoth’s 3rd grade class highlight their acts of kindness. When a student expresses kindness, they add it to their wall. Their goal is to fill the board!

Prudence is described by the positivity project as “You plan for the future and achieve your goals by making careful everyday choices.” Which choices do you make in order to plan for your future? What things do you do to ensure you reach your goals?

                                             NEXT MONTH

February characters traits will be Social Intelligence, Love and Zest/Enthusiasm.
