Mike and Saundra Boyer
Dear Families,
This has been a difficult and sad week for our Floris community as we mourn the loss of fifth grade teacher, Mike Boyer. Mr. Boyer has been part of our Floris family for the last four years and will be sorely missed.
As a fifth-grade teacher, he was the first male teacher for many of our Floris students. He was a kind-hearted, gentle, and down-to-earth man and many students have been reporting that Mr. Boyer just “got” them. He intuitively understood and sought to discover more about the supports and encouragement that each child needed to become the best version of themselves. He focused on the whole child, including both social-emotional and academic growth, and joyfully celebrated their progress and accomplishments.
Mike Boyer met students where they were and embraced the unique qualities of each child. He not only showed childlike wonder at things that students found interesting, he challenged them to be inquisitive and find the excitement in learning. His room was a hodge-podge of visual stimuli – and a lot of it came from student questions and learning. Have a question about commas? A laminated page about comma usage might be on the wall tomorrow! He surprised himself with his green thumb and had many plants flourishing in the sunny windows of his classroom.
We are thankful for the outpouring of love and support from his Floris Family and the community. Mike, you will be missed.

Carson MS Rising 7th Grader Curriculum Night – Wednesday, January 30th
Attention 6th grade parents - mark your calendars for January 30th! Carson MS will be holding its Curriculum Night for Rising 7th Graders. This program is designed to provide parents an opportunity to learn about the middle school course selection process, the academic and elective course offerings and requirements, and after school programs. Chuck E. Cheese Fundraiser – Friday, February 1st 3 – 9 p.m.
Join your Floris ES friends at Chuck E. Cheese on Friday, February 1st from 3 – 9 p.m. This is our kids’ favorite fundraiser of the year!
