Fairhill Friends Forever

Fairhill Friends Forever meet every Thursday morning during morning announcements for 10-15 jam-packed minutes of fun activities, games and interaction. 6th grade students are matched with younger students at our school in grades K – 3rd for relationship building. The program focuses on developing leadership skills and building our school community through inclusive practices, bridging gaps between themselves and others. Here is a spotlight of one such pair, 6th grader Betty and her 2nd grade buddy, Angelica:

"My buddy used to be very shy, and kind of secluded herself from other people. But when it came to me, I don't know what, but she immediately clicked. I don't know what it was, maybe I was an “older kid” that was “super cool” or something. But Angelica is an awesome kid.

Angelica LOVES to draw. She isn't bad at it either. She drew a picture of me with a heart, and gave it to me. It said: “Betty, I love you!” on it. I thanked her, and we moved on.

One day, I was at the bowling alley, and saw Angelica with a few other kids from Fairhill. She immediately recognized me, and came to say hi. We greeted each other, and then went on to mind our own business. But, a few minutes later, she came up to me with an identical drawing to the one I got at the first Fairhill Friends Forever meeting. I also received three other pictures and a million hugs from Angelica."

By preparing early, students will be more likely to be college and career ready after high school graduation. Students in grades 4-6 will participate in Career Day.

We can’t do it without you! Please think about how you may be able to support Career Day!  If you are interested and available, please complete this form and send back to school.

News from Falls Church HS

Falls Church HS Annual Heritage Night

On February 15th, the Student Leadership program at Falls Church High School will be having their annual Heritage Night. They would love the Fairhill community to be a part of this event!

If any students and/or families have cultural traditions that they want to have showcased, they would love to have someone come in and talk to you/those students to tell them all about it and how to get involved! We love seeing our whole community, especially on a night embracing how our differences, unite us.
