Aldrin Elementary--STEAM Focus

Meet the STEAM Teachers!

What does S.T.E.A.M. stand for?

STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, & Math. Instead of separating subjects into individual blocks,  it works to integrate the pieces together. Through the use of PBLs (Project Based Learning) students are presented with real world scenarios. We use these scenarios to teach the subjects in connection to careers. This allows students to see the connection between subjects and how they are relevant to their futures.

Theresa

Theresa Reedy (tgordon@fcps.edu) Mrs. Reedy is the full-time STEAM teacher. In her previous four years of teaching, she worked on the 5th grade team at Aldrin. Her favorite subjects were Math, Science, & Technology, so STEAM was a great fit!  As the STEAM teacher she works with multiple grade  levels--Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, 5th, 6th grade, & Enhanced Autism. When she does not have a class she "pushes into" the classrooms to support student learning in Science & Math.

Katie

Katie Friedman (kafriedman@fcps.edu)

Mrs. Friedman is a part-time STEAM and General Music teacher. In her 15th year of teaching, Mrs. Friedman was so excited to take on the challenge of STEAM; she is working with 3rd & 4th grade students. Using technology in the classroom has always been a passion, and truly being able to see the curricular ties between Music, Science, and Math has been so rewarding.
