Student School Climate Survey

4th and 5th grade Families,

In December, we notified you that your child would be participating in a statewide Student School Climate Survey, required by the Virginia Department of Education. Due to significant concerns raised by FCPS administrators and school leaders, Superintendent Dr. Brabrand requested an exemption from the State Superintendent. This request was approved; therefore our 4th and 5th grade students will not be taking the VDOE survey this year.

If you should have any questions regarding this matter, please contact me at lmpilson@fcps.edu

Writing Contest "WHAT MAKES YOU A BETTER PERSON?"

Thanks to all of the students who participated in the PTA sponsored “WHAT MAKES YOU A BETTER PERSON?" writing contest. It is evident that each of you really worked hard on your entries. Congratulations to Solyana in Mrs. Brogan' class,  Kadiatu in Ms. Morris' class, Chris and Angelo from Ms. Chang's class, Rossy in Mrs. Werner's class, who were selected as the student winners of the PTA T-shirt: “In a World Where You Can Be Anything, BE KIND”.

Ms. Chang's class did an amazing job with 100% class participation and her class will receive a popcorn party from our PTA.

Once again, thank you all for participating. The entries are truly inspiring.

Yearbook Cover Announcement

A special announcement from the Yearbook Committee!

Thank you so much to all the students who sent in entries for the yearbook cover contest!  It was so difficult to choose just one for the cover design. Because it was so difficult to choose, we have selected two entries as the winners!  Liya Koomveetil's artwork will be on the front cover of the yearbook. Liya is in Ms. Wood's 3rd Grade class.  On the back cover, you will find Elena Rios's artwork.  Elena is in Mrs. Werner's 5th Grade class.  Congratulations to the winners!!  Don't worry if you weren't the winner, we will be showcasing the remaining entries inside the yearbook as well! So look out for the artwork from these artists throughout the pages.  Kaylyn T., Destiny U., Viviana, Genesis Z., Vincent N., Elina L., Aiden M., Skyler C., and Fouad K.  Great job Cougars!
