Fairfax Villa Tuesday Message

1

Dear Fairfax Villa Parents and Community Members,

It is with great excitement that I have been asked to be your interim principal for the next two months. I want to ensure each one of you that my main objective is to make this a seamless transition for our students, staff, and community.

While there have been several experiences in my career that have prepared me to assume this role, what has driven me to this moment are three core commitments that go hand in hand with our Region 5 goals:

  1. To create a caring community culture
  2. To provide high quality tier 1 instruction in all classrooms
  3. To develop high-functioning collaborative teams

I am honored to serve as interim principal here at Fairfax Villa! It is a privilege to be a member of a community where parents, teachers and students care for each other and strive to build relationships that promote academic and social growth.  I look forward to working alongside you so that we can continue to create exciting and meaningful learning experiences for our students in the months to come.

My best,

Dave Gerstner

Service Dog at Fairfax Villa

We anticipate that a service dog will be coming to school with a child in Ms. Wilson-Vogel's class in the coming week. Service animals are highly trained to perform specific tasks, and generally do not need very much additional supervision or care while they are working.  Please talk with your child about this animal. It would be helpful for you to emphasize that the service dog is a working animal whose purpose is to help another student, is not a pet, and should not be petted or fed. We are pleased to note that there are currently service animals successfully assisting students in other Fairfax County Public Schools.

The following message is sent on behalf of the Fairfax Villa ES School PTA. Its content reflects the views of the PTA.

If you haven’t already, please RSVP by Tuesday, Jan 15 as we will need an accurate head count. Child care will be available. Please RSVP with the name and age of your child if you would like to take advantage of this great opportunity!

Supporting the PTA

There are three ways you can support the PTA. 1. Join the PTA! When you join the PTA, you become an advocate for your child and every other Villa student. We normally meet the third Wednesday of the month and many times will have guest speakers or other programs as well. PTA Membership forms will be in your student’s Tuesday folder.   You can also join online at http://villapta.ptboard.com. The school code is DRAPTE. 2. Donate! Any amount given is helpful and it all goes into benefits and services that benefit the Villa staff and students. 3. Volunteer! Volunteering is NOT required but it is always greatly appreciated. If you have any questions, please contact us at villapta@gmail.com
