Principal's Message

Dear Wolftrap Families:

Welcome to 2019! I hope that you all enjoyed a wonderful holiday season with your families. We are excited to welcome your children back to school today!

MONTHLY UPDATES: Please take a few moments to read the January updates from our grade level teams and each of our specialists: https://wolftrapes.fcps.edu/resources/monthly-updates

Building Supervisor: We wish Mr. Adjapong much happiness in his retirement and I am very pleased to announce our new Building Supervisor is Ms. Elizabeth Kukurelo. With over 12 years of custodial experience in FCPS, Ms. Kukurelo is excited to continue her leadership journey at Wolftrap! She looks forward to meeting the students and families at our many evening events and her first day will be January 7.

Advanced Academics Resource Teacher Substitute: Please join me in congratulating Mrs. Newman on the arrival of her baby girl in December. I am very pleased to introduce Elizabeth Gibson as her long-term substitute. Ms. Gibson recently retired as an AART from FCPS with many years of experience in this role so we are very fortunate to have her expertise to assist parents through the screening process for AAP. If you have any questions, you may reach Ms. Gibson at esgibson@fcps.edu.

Attention Parents of Students Identified by FCPS for the Level IV Advanced Academics Program in Grades 3-5: If you would like for your child to attend the AAP Center at Louise Archer ES, rather than attend the Local Level IV Program at Wolftrap for the 2019-20 school year, you must submit this form to the Advanced Academic Programs office by May 15, 2019. Submission of this form represents a one-year commitment and cannot be changed until the following school year. This form may also be used to reactivate Level IV services if you selected to defer placement this year.

Sincerely,

Teresa Khuluki

Principal

Message from the PTA

National PTA

Welcome to 2019! We hope you all had a wonderful winter break- and are ready to jump back into school and exciting school activities. From a PTA perspective there are a number of events coming up as well as some schoolwide issues we would like to bring to your attention.

First- The talent show is this Saturday! Please join us to support all of the creative acts and talented students we have at Wolftrap.

Second- The first spirit day of the year (pajama day!) and the first 3 hour early release are both Friday January 18th. Get your kids dressed in their PJs and remember school ends at 12:15pm. SACC will be open until 6:15pm.

Third - Reminderthere is no PTA meeting this month. Our next PTA meeting will be Thursday February 7th at 7:00pm in the school library.

Fourth- A safety issue. Numerous incidents of unsafe behavior have been reported at the kiss and ride morning drop off. In addition to impatient honking and disregard for crossing guard directions, parents continue to turn left out of the kiss and ride exit onto Beulah road despite a no left turn sign. This slows down the process for everyone involved and leads to further frustration and unsafe behavior putting our children’s safety at risk. That said- please ensure that you:

  • drive slowly and cautiously
  • abide by all crossing guard directions
  • follow posted sign directions-including the no left turn out of the exit onto Beulah

Kiss and ride opens at 8:10am and runs through 8:30am- this is a large window of time. We understand the mornings can be rushed and stressful however we all need to keep our children’s safety at the forefront of our minds. If you need to get in and out of kiss and ride on the early side, please arrive as close to 8:10am as possible. This will ensure a faster, more efficient, and safe experience for all of us.
