Glasgow Community Gazette - January 6

Glasgow Community:

Happy New Year! We are looking forward to having the building busy with students and staff tomorrow.

Winter break provided me the opportunity to relax and catch up on my to-do list around the house. Most importantly, the break meant quality time with my family, including visiting Winterfest at Kings Dominion.

As we get back into the normal routines of school, I would like to call your attention to a few important items. First, for those of you with current 8th grade students (rising 9th graders), we hope you will join us at Justice High School for Rising 9th Grade Information & Curriculum Night Thursday, January 10 at 6:30PM. See below for additional information.

Also, as we move into the coldest weeks of the winter season, please keep an eye on the weather and possible delays and cancellations. You can learn more about the weather cancellation procedures and sign up for weather schedule alerts here: https://www.fcps.edu/resources/safety-and-transportation/weather-cancellation-procedures.

As I have said before, it is privilege to work with your students each and every day. We look forward to celebrating their progress with you for the rest of year!

Opportunities

Get Involved, Volunteer Today! - The Glasgow PTA needs YOU! See volunteer opportunities at Glasgow Middle School, supporting our teachers and staff, throughout the year: https://bit.ly/2VA0orc

AVID Guest Speakers Needed - Do you have an interest in sharing your college or career experience? Then sign up to be an AVID speaker! Many Glasgow students possess a desire to go to college and the willingness to work hard, but many of them do not truly have the opportunity to be college-ready. These are often the students who will be the first in their families to attend college and are from groups traditionally underrepresented in higher education. Glasgow AVID classes help these students succeed on a path to college and career success. Sign up here: http://bit.ly/2rEaRE1
