Happy Holidays!

After a busy month, the holiday season and the much anticipated two week winter break are finally here. From the entire staff at Hollin Meadows, we say, “Thank you,” for your continued support and hope each of you have a safe, relaxing, joyful, and peaceful holiday season and the very best in the year to come.

Winter Break Dec. 24 - Jan. 4

Hollin Meadows' offices will be closed December 24 through January 4 for the Winter Break. We look forward to welcoming everyone back at 8:05 a.m. on Monday, January 7, 2019.

Deadline for Advanced Academic Program (AAP) Referrals

Parents of 2nd-6th grade students who would like their child screened for Level 4 AAP services must submit a referral packet to Hollin Meadows' office by January 10, 2019. No late referrals will be accepted.  (Note: Please do NOT include staples or sheet protectors). You may put your referral packet in a folder or envelope marked "Attention: Mrs. McBee, AAP Level 4 Referral". If you have questions, please contact Mrs. McBee at or visit the AAP website for information and forms.

Grade 4, 5, & 6 School Climate Survey

This winter our school, in cooperation with the Virginia Department of Education and the University of Virginia, is participating in a statewide student school climate survey. The purpose of this survey is to help schools assess their progress in establishing a positive school climate that promotes student learning.

The survey will be completed online by 4th - 6th grade students using computers at school beginning in mid-January. The survey does not ask for your child’s name and all answers are anonymous (no one will know how your child answered the survey). Parents will not have access to their child’s survey answers. There is a copy of the survey available at school for your review and is available online at http://www.doe.virginia.gov/support/school-climate/index.shtml.

The survey will ask questions such as how students feel about Hollin Meadows, how students get along with one another and their teachers, how students feel about school rules, their perceptions of their teachers’ willingness to help them, and how they feel about attending school. They will also be asked what kinds of bullying they may have observed at school and whether they have been bullied themselves.

The survey is voluntary and your child can decide not to participate. If you do not wish for your child to participate, please notify the school office by telephone or letter by January 9, 2019.

Your child will not receive any immediate benefit from participating in the survey, but the survey will help us to maintain a safe, inviting, and supportive learning environment for your child.
