Principal’s Note

Parents,

Please join me in congratulating Mr. Ibarra for his retirement as Assistant Principal of Sleepy Hollow Elementary. His last day with us was Friday, December 14th.  I have had the pleasure to work side by side with him for the past two years. His detail to attention and organization skills have been invaluable to our administrative team. In FCPS, he has worked in the capacity of classroom teacher at Canterbury Woods Elementary and Assistant Principal in the following schools: Glen Forest Elementary, Canterbury Woods Elementary and Sleepy Hollow Elementary since 2002.

In an email to the staff, Mr. Ibarra shared the following, “I have enjoyed my tenure here, and I appreciate all the wonderful people with whom I had the opportunity to cross paths.  I am grateful for the collegiality and experiences that we have shared together.  As I reflect on the past years and relationships, I want to thank you for touching a bit within me and within us all. Because Deanna and I will be in and around the area, this is not a farewell.  It is my wish – and expect my request to be honored – that my leaving be as seamless as possible when the new Assistant Principal transitions into Sleepy Hollow. As for our students who are resilient and spirited – it is important that they build only positive memories of their school year. If I could leave you all with just one thought, remember – “our work here is about creating opportunities for students’ academic development, but equally important to also help them to grow social-emotionally.”

The Sleepy Hollow school community is grateful for Mr. Ibarra’s leadership and contributions he made to our school.
