REMINDER

12/24/18 - 01/04/2019 Winter Break

(School Office Closed)

Dear Stenwood Families:

We enjoyed a great concert yesterday from our band, strings, and choral students!  Mrs. Riley even came back to see the concert; she said she just couldn’t miss it.  The staff and students loved seeing her and cute little Jacob.

Thanks for supporting our SCA’s clothing drive.  We had over seven boxes donated, and they were given to Graham Road Elementary. Our student's were very excited watching the pile of goods grow as families gave so generously.  Thank you very much!

We could use your help.  If you’ve inadvertently slipped into the habit of running late in the mornings, please resolve to make an adjustment to rectify that situation.  Teachers begin the instructional day at 8:30, as soon as the first student enters the room.  The first bell rings at 8:30, and all students are expected to be within their classrooms by 8:40 when the second bell rings.  Students who arrive to their classrooms after 8:40 are marked tardy.  Similarly, if you choose to pick your child up at the end of the day at kiss and ride, please be sure to arrive prior to our 3:20 bell.  Thank you for your assistance.

As winter break approaches, I want to wish you and your family a wonderful break.  I hope you have a great time with family and friends.  In an effort to support our students in receiving that same joyful time with family and friends, we are refraining from assigning homework over the break.  Nor will we have any tests immediately upon return from break.  It is our hope that this will allow everyone a true rest and the time to engage in family traditions.  Enjoy and see you in the new year.

Sincerely,
Principal Dammeyer

Message for Advanced Academic Level IV Eligible Students’ Families—

In order to have a deadline better aligned with staffing and hiring timelines for schools, the transfer/reactivation form requesting a change of school choice for AAP Local Level IV or Level IV Center for eligible students has been moved up to May 15, 2019.

If families do not submit a transfer form by May 15, 2019, the current placement will continue for the next school year for students in Grades 4-6.  Newly eligible students will communicate their choice of Local Level IV or Level IV Center in the permission for placement form submitted to the AAP office in early May.

For Level IV-eligible elementary students transitioning to middle school, the SIS rollover to “next school” will assign Local Level IV students to their base middle school (assigned by home address), and Level IV Center students to the middle school Level IV center (assigned by home address).  Changes to this automatic school assignment may be made by parent/guardian request via the transfer form.

Parents/guardians may submit the Full-Time Advanced Academic Programs Level IV Transfer/Reactivation Form to the Advanced Academic Programs office by May 15, 2019, to communicate a change in school placement for the 2019-20 school year.  Submission of this form represents a one-year commitment to attend the selected Level IV option and cannot be changed until the following school year.
