Dear Wolftrap Families:
Retirement: Our building supervisor, Mr. Adjapong, will be retiring on January 2, 2019. Mr. Adjapong has served the students, staff, and families at Wolftrap since 1999! He will be missed but we are thrilled for him to begin the next chapter of his life. We are currently in the process of interviewing for his replacement.
e-Notify Emergency Messages and New Attendance Email: Fairfax County Public Schools will be moving to a new vendor to provide emergency and essential email, text, and phone notifications beginning December 14, 2018. If you currently receive emergency and essential communications via email, text, or phone, you do not need to do anything as you will continue to receive this information. Emergency and essential information includes: emergency; delayed openings/school closings; attendance; buses running late; low lunch balance; power, telephone, internet outages or facility repairs; important testing dates, etc. If you have recently changed your contact information, please be sure to update the emergency contact information in weCare.
As part of the transition, FCPS will standardize the attendance phone number and e-mail address for all schools across the district. Please take note of Wolftrap’s new attendance email:WolftrapElem.Attendance@fcps.edu
Service-Learning at Holiday Parties: Thank you very much to all of the families who donated items as a part of our service-learning initiative. Wolftrap has continued to partner with our sister school in FCPS to provide necessities for needy families. These items include food, snacks, gloves, hats, scarves, personal hygiene items, etc. They are so appreciative of Wolftrap’s efforts and it is a great thing for Wolftrap students to understand the needs of others in our FCPS community.
Winter Break: Our school and office will be closed for winter break from December 24-January 4. Students return to school on January 7.
My wish for the upcoming winter break is to share experiences with my children that will create dearly-held memories for the future. I hope you do the same and enjoy this time! Happy holidays!

 Happy Holidays from the PTA Board! In this last edition of The Connection for 2018 we wanted to take the opportunity to thank you for all that you have done for Wolftrap thus far this year. We also would like to highlight that there are quite a few events this last week of school in 2018 where parents are working hard donating time, energy and resources to make the winter festivities fun and engaging for our kids. From winter parties (see schedule later in this Connection) to staff appreciation, your time and efforts are noted and notable- our school would not be the same without you and your support! Hang in there- we are almost to winter break!

Nominations are now open for the FCPS Outstanding Employee Awards! To submit a nomination for a Wolftrap Outstanding Employee in one of the categories below, please complete the nomination through this Google form link: https://goo.gl/forms/o4iLC1uwE8PVqoRj2 You may nominate multiple employees as there are several categories. All that is required for a preliminary nomination is a paragraph or two about how this employee demonstrates exceptional work in the criteria for that category. The google form link has more information regarding the criteria for each of these awards and the eligibility requirements are below.
The PTA's Teacher Appreciation Committee will host "Holiday Delights" on Thursday, December 20th or all teachers and staff at Wolftrap Elementary School.
Our monthly lunches are hosted by each grade level. For this event, we are inviting anyone who has a favorite holiday cookie recipe to participate. We will provide the teachers with small boxes so they can each take home a few holiday treats - like a cookie exchange.

 Wolftrap students, and parents, continue to turn out in big numbers on Walking Wednesdays even on these cold mornings. With that being said, Walking Wednesdays will continue to be held on a weekly basis thru the end of the school year! Please thank Caffe Amouri for their continued support.

The Faculty Volleyball Event Committee is looking for volunteers to help coordinate this fun school spirited event. The event will be Saturday, March 9, 2019. Volunteers will participate in two to three face to face meetings leading up to the event in March to plan music lineups, concessions, half-time shows, school pep rally, anthem singing and local troops for color/guard, and work with our own Wolftrap teacher volunteers to outfit them for the fun event.  Save the date! This year's annual Wolftrap Elementary 5K & Fun Run will be on Sunday, April 28th! Last year's race had over 650 registered runners and raised over $45,000 for the school -- this is an event you won't want to miss!
