Spotlight on Ms. Kopecky's 3rd Grade Class
3rd grade is currently learning how to write fractured fairytales during our story innovation unit. Ms. Kopecky's class wrote The Unicorn and the Three Ghosts our version of Goldilocks and the Three Bears.
The Unicorn and the 3 Ghosts
Modified from Goldilocks and the Three Bears by students in room 156
Once upon a time there were 3 ghosts; a great big papa ghost, a middle-sized mama ghost and a wee baby ghost who lived in a haunted house. They loved to scared people day and night. One day they went for a float to scare people. At the same time there was a unicorn named Bob who was wandering around the spooky forest. Bob was trick-or-treating when he came across a haunted house. He knocked, but no one answered as the door squeaked open.
Bob entered the house when he saw three bowls of peppers. Bob was really hungry and tried the great big papa ghost’s bowl of spicy ghost peppers, but they were TOO HOT! Then Bob tried the middle-sized mama ghost’s bowl of yellow peppers, but they were too sweet. Finally, Bob tried wee baby ghost’s jalapeno peppers and they were just right. He ate them all up.
Bob was getting too tired from standing, so he teleported to the living room looking for some chairs. The Great big papa ghost’s chair was too dusty, the middle-sized mama ghost’s chair was too clean, but he thought the wee baby ghost’s chair was just right. When he sat down, Bob fell through the wee baby ghost’s chair because it was a ghost chair and the chair disappeared.
Then Bob used his Unicorn magic get to the bedrooms because he was tired. The 1st bed was too scary, the 2nd one was too fluffy, 3rd was just right, and he fell asleep.
The 3 ghosts floated back and saw that someone has been in their haunted house. They went to the kitchen and said, “Who’s been eating my peppers?”, then they went to the living room and said” Who’s been sitting in my Chair?” Then they went to the bedroom and said, “Who’s been sleeping in my bed?” Then they went to baby ghost’s bed and saw Bob sleeping there. When Bob woke up he saw the ghosts and ran away.
