Senior Transcript Requests

December is a hectic time, and even more so for seniors applying to colleges. Here are a few tips for seniors regarding recommendations and transcripts:

  • If you have asked a teacher or counselor for a recommendation, and it needs to be submitted electronically such as through Common Application or the Coalition, make sure you have inputted their email correctly. Most WSHS staff members use their “fcps.edu” email for these websites, not their “fcpsschools.net” email. And double check the spelling of their name as well.
  • Adding your counselor to the Common App does not provide an automatic transcript submission. If you need a transcript, complete and submit the WSHS Transcript Request Form. The directions are on the back of the form.
  • Winter Break for students is also winter break for WSHS staff.   If you are applying for a school with a January 1st deadline such as UVA, or January 15th deadline such as GMU, you should have talked to your teacher or counselor by now if you need a recommendation and you should have submitted your Transcript Request Form to Mrs. Kurth in Student Services. The transcript deadline has passed for these college deadlines, so late fees will be required. Also, if you need an unofficial copy of your transcript if you are self-reporting grades, contact Mrs. Kurth before December 20th.
  • To have the best written recommendation for you, provide your teacher or counselor with as much information as possible on the Teacher Recommendation From or your Senior Packet.
