Dear Belvedere Family:

This past week has been filled with good news. The Preschool Team held an International Potluck for their families with many families attending and sharing wonderful food from around the world. Thanks to our Preschool Team for providing a great community-school event. Everyone had a great time!

On Thursday morning we were all surprised by a visit from our Assistant Superintendent, Dr. Zuluaga, the Executive Director of Apple FCU Education Foundation, Ms. Steven Sengstack, and Lisa Barrow, Director of Professional Growth and Career Development. They came to share the good news that Apple Federal Credit Union Education Foundation awarded Belvedere a $4000 grant to improve the preschool playground. The funds will allow us to make modifications to give students increased opportunities with hands-on experiences in an outdoor setting, including a mud kitchen, sensory tables, and outdoor seating. Congratulations to Stacey Evers, Environmental Teacher, and the preschool teachers for all their work in writing the grant!

Last week, we had a successful first week of composting. The students understand the importance of composting and their efforts prevented nearly 70 pounds of food scraps from going to the landfill. We encourage you to talk to your child about the experience.  Students will continue composting on Tuesdays and Wednesdays each week.

Math Night is this Thursday! There will be a free pasta dinner served, and the book fair will be open. See below for details. We look forward to seeing you at Belvedere!

Math Night, Pasta Dinner, and Book Fair this Thursday!

Please join us for Math Night on Thursday, December 6 from 6-7:30 p.m. A free pasta dinner will be served from 6-6:30, and the book fair will be open for shopping during the whole event. The book fair accepts cash, checks, and credit cards. All proceeds go to purchasing new books for the library. Details about these events can be found on the BES website.
