Inclusive Schools Week

Oak Hill is continuing to celebrate Inclusive Schools Week through tomorrow. This entire week is to celebrate and promote acceptance and inclusion of the diverse population we have at Oak Hill. We also hope this week will encourage conversations about how we can be more accepting and appreciative of those who are different from us. #ISW2018 #allinOHES

Music Collage 12-5-18

Music News

It’s the busiest season of the year for the music department!

The Oak Hill Orchestra members have been working very hard since September.  The 6th grade students have been working on writing program notes to accompany our December concert, which is part of a PBL they have been working on since the beginning of the school year.  The 5th grade has taken over playing Happy Birthday for staff members throughout the year.  Our advanced orchestra will be taking a field trip to Dominion Power Company on December 19th to play holiday tunes as a thank you for the support they give Oak Hill.  Finally, the 4th grade orchestra has been learning how to read notes, and is preparing for their first concert in January.

The band students are preparing for their winter concert on December 12th.  Please have your musician at OHES at 6:30pm.  The students have been making great progress and will be presenting you with the results of their hard work that night.

Chorus members have been singing loud and proud since September!  6th graders already performed in the Chantilly Pyramid concert and 5th graders shared patriotic music at Oak Hill’s Veterans Day breakfast.  Both groups are working on plenty of new repertoire to share in December.  If you’re looking for a festive concert atmosphere, come join the 6th graders when they sing in Fountain Square at Reston Town Center next week!

Our young musicians are ready to perform for an audience, so bring the whole family and enjoy the music!  Even if you don’t have a 4th, 5th, or 6th grade musician, we hope you can come check out one of the many performances in the next few weeks.  We can’t wait to share our music with you!

Thursday, December 6th @ 7:00 p.m. – 5th/6th grade chorus concert
