I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving break! I took a photo of the morning message from last Friday (I write one every morning in the lobby) where I asked students to share what they are thankful for and I made someone's list! Talk about warming my heart! See photo below.
We are coming into a full week and are eager to build up our momentum again and maximize the 4 weeks until winter break. I have the utmost trust in our staff and students that we will work hard and play hard!
We are hosting the Region 2 Administrative Team on Friday afternoon and look forward to showcasing all the great happenings here at FHES. Our Region 2 Team is Dr. Fabio Zuluaga, Assistant Superintendent, Dr. Brenden Menuey, Executive Principal, and Ms. Penny Gros, Executive Principal.
Have a great week!

Adopt a Family for the Holidays!
Each year, staff and community members adopt Freedom Hill families in need, helping them with clothes and gifts for the Holidays. If you would like to adopt a family, you can sign up in the main office or call the school, starting on Friday November 16th. You can also e-mail asfiems@fcps.edu. You will be assigned a family and be provided with the children’s ages, sizes and preferences.

Food in the cafeteria: Fairfax County Public Schools does not encourage parents to bring food from fast food restaurants into school cafeterias due to unknown sanitation policies at these fast food restaurants, unknown ingredients (i.e. common allergens), and their likely non-compliance with competitive food and beverage guidelines. Breakfast and lunch food sold by FCPS Food and Nutrition and Services meets USDA standards for school meals. Food sold to students during the school day that is not part of the lunch or breakfast programs must meet Smart Snacks standards, per the 2010 Healthy Hunger-Free Kids Act and FCPS Wellness Policies. Many fast food items, such as soda and candy, are likely too high in calories, sugar, sodium and/or fat to meet Smart Snacks guidelines. When parents join students at school for lunch, we suggest they purchase lunch from our school cafeterias or bring a nutritious lunch from home.
