FSES 4th graders recently took on the role of ecologists in a project based learning experience. All students were assigned a location in Virginia as a potential site to build a new university. Student ecologist teams were challenged with determining the implications of building a university at that location. The 4th graders presented their findings based on the evidence that they collected throughout the unit.
Mrs. Debra Peyser is Franklin Sherman's new kindergarten teacher. Mrs. Peyser lives in Maryland with her husband and two middle school children. She comes to FSES with over twenty years of wonderful experiences teaching and counseling in elementary schools in Montgomery and Fairfax Counties. Mrs. Peyser has a Bachelor's Degree in ECED from Towson University and a Master's Degree in School Counseling from the University of Maryland. Her first love, as well as her favorite year to teach, is kindergarten. Mrs. Peyser looks forward to working with the community and staff at Franklin Sherman! She believes it will be a wonderful place to teach and learn!
On Monday, November 19, Franklin Sherman E.S. held its annual Thanksgiving luncheon. Students, parents, and staff shared a traditional turkey feast together in the cafeteria. Thank you to Sonali Wickrema, Jessica Lengkong, our wonderful PTA volunteers, and awesome cafeteria staff for making this year's luncheon another success!
