The Day of Giving
Food for Fines
On November 27th, The Day of Giving, Robinson students delivered 153.7 lbs. of food to the George Mason Patriot Pantry. Once or twice per year, the librarians offer students the chance to clear their library obligation with a food donation. Many students who did not have a library obligation donated food as well. We are thankful for the opportunity to share with our local community.
On Friday, November 30th, Robinson Secondary held a school wide letter writing campaign to thank service members. We connected to our summer reading, Craig & Fred: A Marine, A Stray Dog, and How They Rescued Each Other. Author Craig Grossi, a Robinson alumnus, sent a video encouraging our students to support the troops by writing a letter. We also connected to the Ram Values of empathy and resilience and considered the sacrifices of our military members. Many teachers shared their personal connections to the military, growing up with a military parent, or as the relative of a soldier currently serving. Robinson librarians delivered the letters to A Million Thanks, an organization that sends letter to soldiers stationed overseas.
