Woodson Weekly is published every Friday to provide the community with important information about school life at Woodson High School.

Upcoming Important Dates
Wednesday-Friday, November 21st-23rd - Thanksgiving Holidays
Friday, December 14th - 3-Hour Early Release, dismissal at 11:50 a.m.
Monday, December 24th - Friday, January 4th - Winter Break
Monday, January 7th - School resumes, Even Day
Attendance for Thanksgiving Week
If you know your child will be missing full days of school the week of November 19th, please call the attendance line to let us know now.
Also, early releases on Monday or Tuesday, November 19th and 20th will only be accepted with a written check-out note. The Urgent Line will not be monitored due to high call volume on the other phone lines. If your child needs to be released early and did not bring in a note, a parent must come into the school to sign the student out at the Main Office.

Report Card Distribution
Report cards were distributed through 7th period classes today. Students who do not have a 7th period class may pick up their report cards in Student Services.
 It’s Academic taped last weekend! Tune to NBC 4 on Saturday, February 2nd to see if Woodson takes the win!
Nominations for Employee Awards Open!
Nominations are now open for the Outstanding Employee Awards! To submit a nomination for a W.T. Woodson Outstanding Employee in one of the categories below, please complete the nomination through a Google Form.
You may nominate an employee in one or more categories. All that is required for a preliminary nomination is a paragraph or two about how this employee demonstrates exceptional work in the criteria for that category. The Google Form link has more information regarding the criteria for each of these awards and the eligibility requirements are below.
Outstanding Teacher
Eligibility: Has at least three years of experience as a teacher; librarians are included in this category.
Outstanding New Teacher
Eligibility: Within their first three years of being a teacher; librarians are included in this category.
Outstanding Leader
Eligibility: At least one year of experience in current position. Common positions in this category: School-Based Technology Specialist, Technology Support Specialist, Assistant and Associate Principals, DSA, DSS, Assessment Coach, Career Center Specialist, Instructional Coach, SOSA, Psychologist, Social Worker, School Counselor.
Outstanding Operational Employee
Eligibility: At least one year of experience in current position. Common positions in this category: administrative and office assistants, custodial staff, food service staff, IA, PHA, PHTA, all parent liaisons
The deadline to submit a nomination is Tuesday, November 20th.

 WTW Band Holiday Tiny Tots Concerts
It's that Holiday time of year! Please join the W.T. Woodson Band for the annual Holiday performances. The Holiday Tiny Tots concerts include a holiday music performance, joined by seasonal and all-around favorite characters.
Show times are on Wednesday, November 28th at 10:00 a.m. and Thursday, November 29th at 10:00 a.m. and will be held in the Main Gymnasium. Admission is $5.00. Questions? Contact Anne Reed at 703-273-4357 or holidaytunesfortots@gmail.com.
College and Career Center Info
There is new information posted on the College and Career Center site including the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) and on-site admissions visits from Radford University and The University of Mary Washington.
 Boys Cross Country Team wins 6A VHSL State Championship for the first time in school history!
Winter Blood Drive
Mark your calendar for the upcoming blood drive on Wednesday, December 12th in the Aux Gym.
The Key Club is sponsoring the drive. Students are required to be at least 16 years of age and weigh at least 110lbs. All students are also required to have a parental consent form signed. Inova needs 250 units a day, just for regular needs in this area, so we are hoping to supply a large amount of those units! The Attendance Office will be monitoring students’ attendance.
 Come support the 10-1 Woodson Football Team at their next game on Saturday, November 17th at 2:00 p.m. versus South County. The first 250 students to arrive will receive a Woodson Wave Rally Towel.
