Terra Centre Families,
It was great to see so many parents in the building this week and throughout the first quarter to meet with teachers. Meeting face-to-face really helps to strengthen parent-teacher partnerships, which greatly benefits our students!
We are looking forward to honoring our veterans on Monday. Students and staff are encouraged to wear red, white, and blue!
Please see below for additional updates and information, including TC PTA.

At that time, your child will be able to join you for the performance and special activity.
Reminder: TCES Level IV Advanced Academics Parent Survey
Terra Centre Elementary School is inviting parents to participate in a survey designed to gather information and feedback regarding the possibility of opening a Local Level IV Advanced Academics Program at Terra Centre. Below is the description of the program and a link to the survey. The survey will be open through Wednesday, November 14. It should take less than 5 minutes to complete. Please take a few minutes to share your feedback.
Results of this survey as well as a teacher survey will be shared at a Level IV update meeting at Terra Centre on Tuesday, November 27 at 6:30 p.m. in the cafeteria before the PTA meeting. A representative from the FCPS Advanced Academics office will be present to answer questions.
Description of Program
Local level IV is designed to enhance the current Advanced Academic school-based program by providing an opportunity for students found eligible for Level IV services to receive services at the community/base school and to provide a broader group of students access to AAP instructional strategies and curriculum in areas of academic strength. The school plan for flexible grouping includes consideration of multiple assessments of all students. Teachers at the local school receive the same curriculum training and AAP endorsement coursework as the teachers in the level IV center assigned to our school. The plan also includes continuous monitoring of the effectiveness of the program for fidelity of implementation and meeting students’ needs.

TCES Fall Book Fair – November 26-30
The Terra Centre Fall Book Fair is coming soon! Join us in the library November 26-30 for books and fun at our Enchanted Forest Book Fair and let your imagination grow! We kick off this magical week with our Grand Event on Monday, November 26, from 2-4 pm where grandparents (aunts, uncles, siblings, favorite person - all are welcome) can shop with their grandkids. On Thursday, November 29, from 6-8 pm, we welcome everyone to join us for our popular Family Night Event where raffles and games are part of the fun.
Preview flyers will go home with students shortly before the start of the fair. We accept cash, checks (made out to Terra Centre), credit cards and Scholastic e-wallet. E-wallet is a fast and easy way to buy your child's books without worrying about sending them in with cash or checks. We also have an online book fair that runs concurrent with the in-school fair. You can access the online fair and add money to your child's e-wallet by visiting www.scholastic.com/fair to find Terra Centre's fair homepage.
Volunteers are a crucial part of making our Book Fairs a success. Our most critical need for volunteers is for set up, our Family Night Event, and for break down. Volunteer duties include: set up, helping students with writing their wish lists on Monday and Tuesday, assisting shoppers of all ages on the sales floor, straightening up, identifying and marking last copies of books, writing up special orders, and breaking down the fair.
Sign up early to get the best selection of volunteer slots! We are respectfully requesting that all volunteers, other than those designated as Book Fair co-chairs, please use the Sign Up Genius to select your time. If you are unable to use the Sign Up Genius to select or change your time, please contact Jennifer Deer at the e-mail provided below.

**All volunteers who work at least two hours will be able to select one (1) book of $10 or less to receive for free**. The volunteer will be able to select the book during their shift, and then may pick the book up on Friday, November 30, after 10 am or have the book delivered to your child's classroom. If you have any questions about this process, please contact Jennifer Deer at the e-mail provided below.
If you have any questions, please contact Book Fair Chairperson, Jennifer Deer at jdeer1368@yahoo.com or 703-909-3780.
