A BIG THANK YOU! To all who helped volunteer at our Annual Haunted House and Fun Fair! Thank You, Haunted House and Fun Fair Volunteers! The 30th anniversary of this spectacular event was a resounding success!!! Everyone did a truly phenomenal job supporting the 2018 RVES Haunted House. We were able to reach our fundraising goal and without your help, there's no way we'd be able to do this. True that the Haunted House is a lot of work, but it's also a great time, and I hope everyone had as much fun as we did. The new elements that were added were fantastic and very well received. Well done!
The haunted house crew appreciates all of the adult and teenage volunteers who helped Friday for setup and Saturday for the event. The Haunted House simply cannot happen without you. Thank you very much to all of the guides, make-up coordinators and those that worked the front door. It was your efforts that kept the event running smoothly and under control.
I want to extend special thanks to the room leads and prop builders who made the Haunted House look especially awesome this year including Ming Zaleski, Brahim Asfahani, Tim Barron, Janis Tannehill, Amanda Alper, Sarah Stevenson, Christopher Albanese, and Kristopher Delgado. Finally, to Amy Klimek and Jay Davies who served as my right and left had for the past few months coordinating t-shirts, picking up and storing props, and advising on key elements, I truly appreciate all of your support.
A huge thank you to Heather Brennan for volunteering to chair Fun Fair and to her team of Melissa Bailey and Kelly March for ensuring that games were set up and to Amy Painter for graciously organizing the food table again this year.
Many thanks to Don Cheney, who graciously updates the Fun Fair and Haunted House signs every year and Cardinal Plaza Shell for allowing us to advertise our event on their property. And a very BIG THANK YOU to Maureen Boland, Jessica DaSilva, the teachers and the RVES staff for their support and advice in planning for this event. We could not have pulled this off without your help!
Thank you all, Sean Hanlon

PTA Membership: Our meetings are held on the 2nd Thursday of each month at 7 pm in the school library. Become a member of your school PTA! A membership is an easy way to support your school. It gives you access to an online directory of students, provides another way of communication and, most of all, helps to provide more for your student. Nothing is required but your membership fee and a few pieces of information. We love volunteers, but it's not required once you are a member.
You can easily use our online site, rvespta.ptboard.com, to register. Please also check out PTBoard for additional information about PTA activities.
Notes from Septa (Fairfax County Special Education PTA): RVES contact is Amanda Campbell Facebook Site: https://www.facebook.com/FairfaxCountySEPTA/
November 19th: Please join us for the Inclusive Schools Week Proclamation at the School Board meeting! Meet in the Lobby at 6:45 pm to get your Inclusive Schools Sticker! If you have a SEPTA shirt, please wear it! There will be a group photo after the proclamation is read. NOTE: This week's school board meeting is on a Monday due to the Thanksgiving holiday.
