News You Need to Know

Congratulations Marching Band!

Band 1

Band Director Charlie Mitchell has shared that his students have worked tirelessly and enthusiastically to make this a successful year. This is by far one of the best marching seasons we have had and it is thanks to each and every one of the Marching Band students. Last week, at the VBODA assessment, the Edison Eagle Marching Band received a rating of “Superior”.  It’s been a long road to get to this point, but it wouldn’t have been possible without the help of our staff who showed up every week to work with the students.  Shout outs go to Julia Campbell- pit, Dave Bermudez - guard and Dan Helm -Drum line.

Band 2

Nor would it have been possible without the continued support of the EBPO: feeding us, loading and hauling equipment, chaperoning and volunteering for a multitude of tasks. A special shout out goes to the Chaperone Crew, Uniform Crew, Pit Crew and Hospitality crew.  You’ve come through in a big way every week. We would fall apart without your help.  Thank you!

This success belongs to all of us and we thank every single person for your support and continual help with the Edison Marching Band.

CAT-B Learning Off Campus

CAT b 2

Our CAT B students had a fun learning experience at Cox Farm.  Their adapted science curriculum focused on energy, characteristics of Earth, and renewable resources.  The students tested kinetic energy by enjoying several steep slides and played a water game, which showed them why hydropower is a renewable resource.  They were able to use the same water over and over again; it gave them a visual as to why water can be replaced just as quickly as it is used.

CAT B 1

CAT B students also focused on life skills curriculum that includes communication, social skills, and functional academics.  For lunch, the students were given a budget, had to place orders, make the purchase, and count their change.  Budgeting and money skills are areas that all of our students continue to work on to help them become independent once they graduate.  The students and staff really had a great time.
